Saint Michael the Archangel,
Defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
And do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
By the Divine Power of God -
Cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
Who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Lost Love
David unobtrusively clutched his last bottle of vodka and masked himself in the last drink; it charred his throat with a sour aftertaste. David was an alcoholic and would drink a bottle of vodka every night.
It wasn't always this way, David recalled the recent past, not too long ago his life was unadulterated, and he had his beautiful children and his exquisite wife by his side. They were a devout family with devotion and dignity towards their Christian faith.
David lost everything in a domino effect first he lost his job to a young college graduate, which led him to a depressive state that descended to drinking liquor every night, he estranged his wife and family which in turn he abandoned his church and his faith dissolved him. Clair his beautiful wife tried numerous times to support and counsel him, she would constantly pray for David and would always tell him: “David, just ask, and the Lord will save you.” David ignored the help and his folly pushed his family away.
David's family left and after everything was gone David became homeless and only cared about drinking liquor and also developed a new routine of sniffing and smoking cocaine. David needed to support his costly habits, so he started committing offenses that included theft, burglary and petty larceny. David recognized deep down inside that he will eventually get caught by the police or even die on the streets; it was all a numbers game in his head.
Lost Souls
Early in the morning David was wide-awake, inspired by the thrill of just recently stealing an expensive car stereo from an automobile that was unlocked down the street. David jolted towards his drug dealer’s house and knew he was going to at least get $50 worth of cocaine. David’s body got a rush, warm with cold chills it was the high before the high.
David pounded on the door for a few minutes and heard a scream
“What do you want?”
A short, fat man opened the door; he gawked at David with absolute repugnance and hastily said.
“What do you want man? I’m trying to go to sleep.”
“I got this really nice CD player, it's worth $300.” David said.
“No way!” The drug dealer said.
“Come on man?” David said.
The drug dealer hesitated for a minute.
“I will give you $40 worth of crack” The drug dealer said.
David smirked and the drug dealer sprung the door open, and David ushered his way into the house.
Once in the house David noticed the robust odor of marijuana mixed with cigarette smolder, tattered sandwich bags scattered the floor. David made his way into the kitchen; he noticed a white residue on the table. David secretly fantasized how it would be if he had a limitless quantity of cocaine to devour with no impunity.
David gently sat down at the table in an undersized chair; once David was relaxed he heard a loud bang. David rotated around and noticed the door was kicked in and three men in all black clothes rapidly dashed on towards David and the drug dealer. The first man grabbed David and smashed his scrawny malnourished frame to the floor.
“Where are the drugs and money?!” the man in black said.
The other two men swiftly grabbed the drug dealer and shouted the same verse.
“Where are the drugs and money?!”
The drug dealer did not say a word as they harassed him over and over again.
After a few attempts, one of the men in black submissively put the gun to the drug dealers head and awkwardly pulled the trigger two times. The blood splattered all over the room and consumed half of David’s face.
The murderer marched over to David nonchalantly as if he had done this before; he pointed the gun at David’s chest and fired three times in a rapid sequence.
David felt Pain and throbbing in his chest and started to see black and white spots, he wandered in and out of consciousness as he lay on the floor. He watched the three men shuffle through the house pillaging for drugs or money and also noticed the blood oozing out of the drug dealers head that rested a few feet away from him. David couldn’t hold on anymore, he knew it was time to go; he cried and wished it didn’t have to end this way.
Prince Of Darkness
David found himself upright in a scorching desert, it looked alien to David, and it was a hostile world. The sweat trickled down his face, and he felt queasy, he hastily recollected that he had been shot and slowly patted his chest and stomach, but there were no bullet lacerations, or blood and confusion ran through his brain.
The wind started gusting recklessly, and massive dust particles were fluttering through the air, the sudden dust storm came to an abrupt end.
“This can’t be Earth” David said to himself.
It turned dark within a heartbeat, and David heard a vulgar voice.
“DAVID your soul is mine to take” The ill-mannered voice said.
The voice was malevolent, ancient, daunting and gave David a ringing noise in his ears; he had never heard such a sound previously.
David knew he was in Hell, he understood his way of life and choices would lead him to such a place. David’s mind started racing, and angst and despair took over his body.
“Could this be the Prince Of Darkness?” David whispered.
The gloom around him quickly barred in on him, and all David noticed was the Devils red eyes that pierced through his soul like a knife through butter. David knew just observing the Devil was unscrupulous to his well-being in numerous ways.
David cringed as he observed there were other demons in the vicinity and they gradually started to surround him.
The demons looked like foul creatures David had never perceived before, dark brown bodies, with long arms, and evil red eyes. The demons seized David, and he was detained to the ground. A lone demon looked womanlike with long hair and breasts; she got on top of David just like a human would mount a horse, and put her hands on David’s chest looking straight in his eyes.
David felt an unpleasant vibration within his body that turned to a burning sensation and noticed what looked like his soul leaving his body; his soul was a ghost in appearance. The demon deliberately sucked his soul out of his body, David’s body became frail, and all his hair turned gray he rapidly aged 30 years. The daunting pain turned to fire and burned David's chest.
Tears flowed down David’s face, he recognized time was diminishing, and all he could think about was family, how significantly he truly loved them, and the vast mistakes made during a short time with them.
He heard is wives voice softly say: “David, just ask and the Lord will save you.”
David looked like a 75 year old man and with the diminutive ounce of liveliness he had he said: “Father Save Me From This Hour.”
Defend Us In Battle
Within seconds the demons let go of David, they stood around him, the darkness turned into light and David looked up and noticed
a mighty angelic being. The archangel stood ten feet tall, he had an armored breastplate on his chest, and his hair blustered in the wind with pure bliss.
The Devil yelled “Michael.” The demons quickly ran away and left the beast to fight for himself.
Without saying one word the Angel Michael walked over to the Devil, the beast got down on his knees in what appeared to be a trance Michael had over him, and with sandals on his feet he smashed the beast down to the ground. Michael Hauled out a long gleaming sword that shimmered with light like a glowing light bulb, with one thrust he pierced the Devil turning him into dust that surged through the wind. Michael elevated up effortlessly and harnessed the sword and looked David directly into his eyes.
Without saying one word to David, Michael showed him his life in retrospect.
David witnessed flashbacks of his life from his birth into a loving family, and his grandma loving him and sharing her life with him. David relived the first time he met Clair and their first kiss as a couple. David finally got to see his children born, and how much they loved and needed him. David felt the sense of déjà vu as if this whole ordeal had already happened. David snapped out of these visions and noticed his youth was back, and he was normal again.
Without saying a word to him, Michael told David:
“Walk With Me.”
As David was walking with the perfect Arch Angel, he felt he was on top of the world, and what it meant to be a creation of his father, David looked over at Michael and noticed he was gone.
David Woke up in a blur and noticed his family surrounded by him, his kids yelling “Daddy, Daddy, you are awake!”
David noticed his wife Clair smiling at him.
“David, you were in a doctor induced coma, you were shot 3 times.” Clair said.
“I will never take you guys for granted” were David’s first words.
David spent some time with his family and when they left for the night David got comfortable and moved to his side, he felt a pang radiating towards his chest and pulled his hospital gown down and noticed a fresh burn on his chest.
David silently prayed to his father.
“Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.”
