New Year at TAC
CHAPTER 10:
Jacqui vs Vanessa
‘Ok Wal, what the hell are you playing at?’ Sheep met up with his friend at interval as they walked towards the E Block garden area, their usual hangout spot during breaks. ‘What’s with the glasses?’
‘What’s with your glasses?’
‘I asked you first.’
‘I need them.’
‘Bullshit. You’re only wearing them to impress Chelsea.’
‘And you’re not?’
Sheep delivered him a wry smile. ‘You know you look like a complete dork.’
‘I look like a complete dork?’
‘Come on, no one would ever mistake you for an interlectual.’
Their argument ended when they joined up with Rick Maverick and Holly Robinson in the garden area.
‘Yo, Mav!’ Wal greeted him and slapped him hard on the back, causing him to almost fall over. ‘Good to see you, how was your holidays?’
The tall, friendly teen tried to give Wal a slap on the back himself, but Wal blocked it and pretended to punch him in the stomach. ‘Watch it Maverick, or I’ll smack you one!’ he growled, but then smiled, ‘Just jokin, Mav.’
‘Glad to see you didn’t drop out of school after last year’s abysmal effort,’ Mav said, in an amused tone of voice. He was the sort of guy who never seemed to be serious. At first Sheep didn’t like him at all. He found his humour annoying and he had taken a lot of getting used to. They did get on better now, although occasionally, their personalities would clash, particularly when Sheep taunted some of his other friends.
‘Hey, I did ok,’ Wal defended himself. ‘At least I didn’t almost flunk out and have to repeat a year.’
‘I wasn’t talking about intellectually.’ Mav chuckled. ‘When I said abysmal, I was talking about romantically. You bombed out with everyone last year.’
‘What are you talking about?’ Wal scowled. ‘What about Nicky Barrett?’
Sheep snorted. ‘How long did that last? A couple of weeks?’
‘We were going around almost two months.’
‘Yeah, well she soon got fed up with your BS, Ullman. I’d call that a failure for sure.’
‘I’d had a gutful of her nagging anyway. I was on the verge of ending it myself.’
