True Love Lost Forever: A Dark Tale of Fantasy
Chapter two
Changes
Over the next few years, Logan began to work with his father and Aideen concentrated on her education. With each passing day they longed, more and more, to be together, waiting patiently for that future day. Until the winter Logan turned fourteen, tragedy struck the Shekowl family. Erina, suddenly became sick on a cold, wet day at the beginning of the season. She suffered horribly through the gelidity until, just before spring, she died.
The Apollumi's came immediately to the need of their despondent friend when Kelvyn slipped into a malaise and became unconsolable. It was a depressing funeral, everybody came and expressed their condolences. Kelvyn could only fake a smile and say thank you. Aideen never left Logan's side through the whole affair.
The next day Aideen, excitedly, took Logan to the local magic-user. He was perplexed until she revealed two shining, clear crystals, that were the size of her thumb. She had crafted matching silver chains onto them and Logan thought they were extremely beautiful. He remembered, this was the first time she expressed her love for him. The Magician told them to concentrate on each other, while focusing on the crystals. Lighting a candle, he then told them to hold the stones above the flame. Logan did so first. The glow shined through the stone as an effigy of Aideen rose above it. The image, smiled and waved. Her long, dark hair, curled around her shoulders. She wore a flowing, white gown, taking Logan's breath away. As Aideen did the same, Logan's likeness appeared. Both were exact representations. Logan put the chain around his neck and never took it off. They pledged their love and kissed for the first time. Blood rushed to Logan's head and other parts of his body. He could only kiss her back. Eventually, Aideen had to leave with her family and Logan began to feel dispirited.
Logan didn't see Aideen after that. Kelvyn began to drink and spiral downward. He seemed to give up on life and nothing could reach him. Logan was forced to take on all the responsibilities. He would work long, hard hours of drudgery and come home to his drunk father, who was usually ready to fight. It seemed to Logan at that time, his father blamed him for the death his mother. Late at night, Logan would stare at Aideen's effigy in the crystal, longing to be with her increasingly more with every passing day. The days turned to years and the equinox's came and went. Logan became distraught with emotion and desired Aideen intensely. He tried to get messages to her but all he heard was silence.
