Lesson One: Staying Alert & Ready

During the night as we slumber in our beds, little glittery lights make their way out of the woods, flickering to and fro across the night sky to leave a gift and pick up their prizes.
One summer night in the city of Greensboro North Carolina, two tiny balls of glittery light streak out of the woods. Across an open field of tall grass the glittery lights darted left and right heading towards a lonely little cottage, kicking up dew off the tall grass as they passed by.
The windy summer night shook the tree tops, sweeping down and across the tall grass making it sway under the glittery lights that had passed by before coming to a sudden stop near the side of the cottage, slowly they both drifted upwards.
The lights began to lightly flicker after coming over the side of the roof top and floating over the wooden shingles, until dimming out the moment after their wings stop flapping landing on the gutter and revealing two tiny fairies.
The stern older looking fairy trainer whose name is MR. SEASON, he stands about an inch shorter than his trainee whose name is BUTTER.
MR. SEASON stood in front of BUTTER on the gutter dress mostly modern for a fairy of his age, with a blue vest over his red shirt and a thin gray scarf rap around his neck which hung just below the bend of his arms.
His head like most friaries seem to pop out of his shoulders, and his pointy ears are hidden under his hair which doesn’t seem to cover his bald head even though a long strain is reaching to the sky from the back of his head like a lightning bolt. And his official fairy hand bag with the (F) printed on both sides which were slightly tilted, it carried everything a trainer needs in the field.
The other fairy was a female called BUTTER, she was a fairy in training who like to dress up as the fairies of old did long ago….but with a little more flare.
She rip off one of her sleeve just under an odd looking shoulder pad she wears only on her right side. Every fairy in training is required to carry the standard magical pouch, which is rap around her waist over a loincloth and pants with half the right leg rip off. A pair of cloth shoes to top it off, like any other fairy wears.
One step was all it took for BUTTER to slip and fall smack dab into the scum line gutter, MR. SEASON started to rub his chin and shacking all over while holding tight to his hand bag before look back over his shoulder at the now green scum covered BUTTER.
BUTTER wipes some of the scum off her face and looks up at MR. SEASON and smiled before she tried to fly, but the scum barely let her wings flap. So she cleaned herself off after getting to her feet on the slippery scum, trying not to fall on her butt again while slowly climbing out of the gutter.
She hurries herself along to catch up to MR. SEASON who began walking on ahead when she was nearly out of the gutter and once more on her feet. They both made their way across before stopping just above a window as the clouds behind them in the night sky slowly drifted by.
MR. SEASON got down on one knee placing his bag on the gutter and pointed his finger at the window below, he look up at his slightly eager looking scum covered trainee. Then with a smile MR. SEASON jump off the gutter and began flapping his wings before turning into a ball of glittery light and floated down.
The night air blew across the roof top slightly moving her loincloth, when BUTTER reach inside her magical pouch and pulls out a black ski-mask.
BUTTER stood with her hands rested on her hips and a creepy smile across her now mask covered face, before zipping past her trainer and slamming straight into the window glass. From inside the room you can see MR. SEASON looking in with a frown on his face, and glancing up to see a now empty shape painted with the green gutter scum on the glass as if she was running.
BUTTER looks at her trainer and gives him a smile with both eyebrows cheerfully raise before she reach down and try’s to open the window over and over again.
The unhappy trainer looks down at her with an angry frown as she was huffing and puffing with both arms between her bent knees, sweet popping off her forehead while still trying to open the window. He pulls out of his bag a hand full of magical powder and tosses it at the window, which opens it up and makes BUTTER falls on her face as MR. SEASON steps inside.
After opening the window MR. SEASON reaches into his hand bag once more and pulls out a quarter and gives it to BUTTER, while pointing at the sleeping child across the room laying on his bed.
BUTTER stairs back at MR. SEASON and once again across the room past the toy planes hanging from the ceiling on tiny strings, merry-go-round, rocking horse and spinning tops among other things.
MR. SEASON grabs his noise just above the tip and shakes his head once more before he grabs the quarter and fly’s over to the bed and lands near the pillow.
He steps over to the pillow and lifts it up and place the quarter somewhat under the pillow and then pulls it back out over and over again before flying back to the window sill. MR. SEASON give the quarter back to BUTTER who made a O-O-O-face is if she just got it, MR. SEASON tried his best to fight off that minor tick his eye began doing when he got a sign BUTTER as his new trainee.
She looks the room over once more holding the quarter tightly under her right arm before jumping off the window sill, flapping her wings and turning into a ball of light just as a cool breeze blew into the room making the curtains sway.
Over the toy planes hanging from the ceiling BUTTER glided, she smiled a little to herself before going down and around the merry-go-round, swooping up and over the spinning tops that sat on the floor near the edge of the sleeping child bed.
BUTTER stops momentarily on top of the rocking horse and realize after it slightly moved back and forth that this couldn’t be the target she was aiming for. So with a funny looking smile across her face, she tried to play it off by acting like she was just taking a moment to stretch.
BUTTER turn away from her trainer as a small frown flash across her face, MR. SEASON pulled out a clip board and a pen from his hand bag waiting to see what she would do next.
Once more BUTTER flew up into the air zipping zagging and sparkling her way towards the bed landing on the right spot this time.
She picks up the pillow and place the quarter under, stepping back and turn towards the window throwing up a two finger peace sign. MR SEASON lifted both his arms after dropping his bag as if to say “What are you doing? Where’s the tooth.”
Both of her eyebrows shot to the top of BUTTER face along with her eye balls opening wider and wider as her mouth close to a tiny hole when it finally hit her….”the tooth.”
She spun all the way around and dive under the pillow grabbing the tooth, BUTTER crawl from under the pillow and stands to her feet holding her prize high above head jumping up and down. MR. SEASON curled his upper lip while checking something off the clip board, just as the sleeping boy arm swung up into the air landing on top of BUTTER.
Zip-pow! MR. SEASON dash over to BUTTER in a blink of an eye and covers her mouth before she could scream saying “shhhh!”
Slowly he lifted the arm slightly off of his new trainee as the now free tooth roll down the sheet and off the bed before ether of them could stop the molar.
After freeing BUTTER, MR.SEASON flew back over to the window sill and wait to see if she would go by the book to get the tooth. BUTTER fix her ski-mask, dusted herself off as she slowly walk over to the edge of the bed and jump….like she was diving into a pool of water.Puff was the sound the dust bunnies made as she zips past them, flying under the bed.
MR.SEASON keep a watchful eye on the bed waiting for BUTTER to pop out from under the bed hol
ding the tooth covered in bust bunnies. She search high and low for the tooth stepping on a nearly invisible strip of tape.
BUTTER tried again and again to get free of the tape while looking for the tooth. But the harder she kicks, the more it along with other old and smelly things boys keep under their bed rap around her body.
Over the countless years MR.SEASON trained new fairies, he thought he seen it all but what happen next was by far the oddest thing he’s ever seen.
She rolled from under the bed rap up in the tape which was covered in popcorn, dirt and a chunk of hard candy. Plus luckily for her the tooth.
BUTTER frees herself and flies up to the window sill, she points at the tooth before stuffing it into her magical pouch.
MR.SEASON squinted his eyes and coughs a little as she was dusting herself off, his upper lip curled to left while tapping his chin, writing on his clip board.
A few seconds passes as BUTTER pulls off her mask while waiting for MR.SEASON to finish writing. He looks up at BUTTER and rips a strip of paper off his clip board and gives it to her.
It reads like this “Congratulation new level one fairy, you pass your first test with a two out of four score. Listed below are all the mistakes you should try to avoid in your future training.”
Butter jumps and spins around in the air with big old soda pop grin across her face. Alter all the jumping and spinning was done she held the strip off paper close to her chest knowing she did her best.
He reaches out one hand waiting for Butter to shake it, she grab hold of it and furiously shook his whole body. Starting from hand and shaking him all the way down to his toes.
After wards MR. SEASON fix his glasses, and straighten out his vest and grab BUTTER by the arm turning away from the room pulling her outside of the cottage, he reaches inside his magical hand bag one last time pulling out a hand full of glittery powder.
BUTTER turns around one last time to take a look at her first snatch and grab just before MR.SEASON toss the powder over his shoulder making the window drop down and lock.
MR.SEASON jumps off the window sill flapping his wings turning into a ball of light and flew towards the woods, followed by BUTTER who zigzag her way across under the night sky flying above the tall grass full of joy and delight.
THE END.
