Behind The Scenes With Author Cambria Hebert

  What is your name?

  My name is Cambria Hebert

  Tell us about yourself.

  I am a writer and a blogger. I am also the mother of two and the wife of a U.S. Marine. I have a little (or maybe not so little) obsession with werewolves and I am afraid of chickens (oh, c’mon you know they’re creepy). I would rather have coffee over food and my favorite place to get it is Starbucks. My favorite place to go is Barnes and Noble where I can walk through the aisles and see the endless possibilities of worlds that other authors have created. I am an animal lover (stray cats tend to follow me home – and no I don’t have thirty – just three.) I am an avid reader and I am addicted to the Vampire Diaries TV show.

  What do you write?

  I write Young Adult Paranormal

  Why do you write it?

  I write it because it’s my passion and because I love to create a world that really isn’t possible but make it seem logical enough for someone to maybe wonder if it could be. I want someone to read what I have written and be transported out of their own head, their own world and escape into the one I have written. When someone puts down my book I hope they think “that was a great story.”

  Do you have any past or current releases?

  I do not yet have anything published but I have two short stories being published in November. Before is a prequel to my Heven and Hell series. Whiteout is a paranormal short story. My debut novel, Masquerade (Heven and Hell #1) is being released December 16, 2011. I also have two short stories being published in a short story anthology that my group on Good Reads is putting together and publishing. The book is titled Christmas Lites and we are planning to have it for sale beginning on Black Friday. All proceeds from this book will go to NCADV (a women’s and children’s shelter) and it will also be available to Operation Ebook drop for troops deployed overseas.

  Tell us about them.

  Masquerade is about a teenage girl, Heven, who has it all. Well, she did until one night there is an accident and she is left horribly disfigured on the left side of her face. She can’t remember what happened to her and no one else knows… so she is branded a freak and rumors fly. She spends her time hiding and looking over her shoulder because she can’t shake the feeling someone is watching her. Sam shows up in town and at school and he see’s past Heven’s scars… but Sam has secrets of his own…

  Before is the prequel to Masquerade. It is about Heven’s life before she was disfigured, before something changed her life. It’s about the world as she knew it before it changed forever.

  Whiteout is about a man who is turned against, who is left to die. In the midst of a blizzard Grace finds him and saves his life. Except saving his life may cost Grace her own. They have one perfect day, Christmas day, and then they have to fight for their lives.

  Who is publishing them?

  Only the best publishing house ever!! Otherworld Publications.

  Where is your favorite place to write?

  It varies. Mostly I write at the dining room table. Sometimes I write on the couch (where I currently am) and sometimes I write in bed… in my underwear. Just kidding! I never write at my desk.

  What do you listen to when you write?

  I listen to the voices in my head, of course.

  How long have you been writing?

  I have been writing since I was a teenager. I wrote my first book at about the age of 15. It wasn’t great. LOL. It’s buried in my closet somewhere. I started writing more seriously about 6 years ago.

  If you could be any mythological creature, what would it be and why?

  This is a hard one because they all have qualities that I would like. I think that I would most like to be a witch. I could clean my house with a snap of my fingers and put a spell on anyone that made me mad (a temporary spell of course—what were you thinking?).

  What is your guilty pleasure food?

  Donuts. I love them but I try to not eat them, I like to fit in my jeans.

  Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

  Don’t ever give up. And always write what the voices in your head tell you to.
