crossed a big bridge. Annu went to the seat opposite to that person. She climbed on the seat and blew the whistle again and again. I called her to come down as I feared she might fall. She didn’t pay any attention to me as she was totally enjoying with the toy and was laughing loudly every time when the tongue of the toy came out for every blow.
Suddenly, I saw the man opening his bag, taking out a toffee from a packet and giving it to Annu. I was in a dilemma, that she may eat it. But soon Annu turned to me and came to my side. “Grandma had told not to eat anything from strangers as there may be poison”, Saying this to me she threw the toffee out of the window.
I smiled at her and said, “very good”. Again she went to the opposite side seat.
“Was there any poison in that toffee?” Her immediate and direct question to that man was an embarrassment for me.
I looked at that man, he also looked at me cutting a sorry figure.
“I should not have offered the toffee to her without your permission....In fact, I am going to meet my granddaughter and was carrying a packet of toffees for her....”, he said.
I couldn’t say anything and just wondered how straight she was in clearing her doubt.
