  “Sandy, will you come here for a second I need to tell you something really important.”

  “Okay, dad, what did you want to tell me?”

  “Since your mother’s been gone, I’ve been really lonely lately and I’ve found a new wife. She’s really nice and kind and caring and I think that you’ll love her.”

  “Love her? How can I love someone that you just found off the streets? I don’t want a new mother; I want my old mother.

  Sandy stormed across the way. “I don’t care if mom’s in the Bronx and she’s doing bad stuff. I want her and not a replacement mother.” she said as she started balling.

  “I’m sorry, honey, but don’t you think that I should have happiness too?” as he tried to keep Sandy calm.

  “Oh, well, yeah, but I don’t like you just finding someone else without consulting me.” as she rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed.

  “You’re not my mother or my father, and besides I’m a grown adult and I can make my own decisions.” said with an impatient voice.

  “No you can’t!”

  “Yes I can and go to your room for talking back to me.”

  “NO!”

  “Not another word.”

  My father yelled with so much force that I didn’t even know that it was him.

  “Well how about three. I hate you.”

  Sandy then stormed out of the house and the next day Sandy decided to write her dad a letter of her apology.

  August 23rd, 4015

  Dear Father,

  I’m so sorry for what I did yesterday. I don’t know what got into me. I guess I was just mad that you were going to forget about a family before mom left to go to the Bronx. I didn’t want you to make it like I don’t exist. I also guess that it was because you didn’t tell me that you were going to start dating again. Again, I’m sorry that yesterday I had such a huge outburst and also I’m sorry that I said I hated you. I truly am.

  Sandy gave the letter to her father, and when he read he deeply appreciated it and wrote his daughter a letter back.

  August 24th, 4015

  Dear Daughter,

  I appreciated the letter and always will but there’s some news that I want to tell you. I got married. I proposed to a fine lady named Brandy McKee. And we married about 2 months later but we haven’t had the reception yet. She says that she has just one child and he’s a boy, maybe you’ve met him. But I wanted to tell you this in a letter so you wouldn’t be so mad. I hope you understand and by the way we are going to meet her son and her tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. on the dot.

  Sandy was so mad that her father was getting married without telling her. I mean it’s bad enough that her own father didn’t tell her that he was dating … but now getting married?

  The next day at 6:00 p.m. there they were Sandy, her father, Brandy McKee, and guess who?

  It was D.J! Sandy’s boyfriend D.J was her father’s step-son! Sandy’s father had to divorce her. If he didn’t then that means that Sandy and D.J would have to break up and Sandy would be so upset and would never forgive her father for ruining her life forever.

  “Sandy, this is Brandy and D.J McKee.”

  “Dad, you know that this is my boyfriend D.J., right?”

  No, honey, I didn’t know that, but I’m happy and I’m getting married so this will be your brother.”

  “What! You’re going to ruin my life to be married to my boyfriend’s mom?”

  “Well, I don’t mean to be mean … but yes.”

  “But why, dad?”

  “If I’m happy then you should be happy too.”

  “Nope, I’m not going to be happy because you’re ruining my life again! I hate you!”

  Then Sandy stormed out of the room.

  “I’ll go get her” said D.J. “But, why would you do that Mr. Hook? Now we can’t date. This is going to ruin me and Sandy forever.”

  “I never thought of that—of how it would affect my daughter’s life. I feel so bad.”

  “You shouldn’t,” said Brandy.

  “And why not?” said Sandy’s father. with a questioning look on his face.

  “You and I are happy, and that’s all that matters. Just because Sandy and D.J aren’t happy that doesn’t mean that we don’t need to be happy.”

  “But, I’ve been married before, and I want my daughter to have the same opportunity. I want my daughter to have a good life and to know that I will always be there for my daughter. I want my daughter to have a better life than me.”

  “Who would you rather have me or your daughter, um what’s her name? she said in a thinking voice.” Oh … right… Sandy.”

  “I would pick Sandy over you any day. To think that I was going to marry you and make my daughter and her boyfriend’s life miserable. Seeing each other every day but not even being able to look at each other because it wouldn’t feel right. It wouldn’t feel right to them if the dated for almost 2 years and then they just had to break up and wouldn’t even be able to look at each other.” said Sandy’s father with an irritated voice.

  “FINE! Choose Sandy over me! I don’t care!” said in a fuming voice.

  “Okay then. You can leave. It won’t bother me.”

  Sandy and D.J. have been trying to help Diovann and Jessica all they could but it was starting to get frustrating. To plan a wedding at 16 is pretty hard, especially if the only wedding you’ve been to was when you were 7 and you were a flower girl. Now you could be a bride.

  Then, D.J found Sandy in the Forest of the Knight, weeping. D.J asked Sandy what was wrong and Sandy said that it was nothing. But, D.J knew not to believe that.

  It’s now 2 months into the planning and Jessica needs help. So instead of having Diovann hire someone she decided to ask Sandy. Since Jessica was asking Sandy, it just made since for Diovann to ask D.J.

  The next day Jessica and Diovann went to ask Sandy and D.J to help plan the wedding. They said yes! The next day Sandy and D.J wen to the kingdom and started planning.

  “Okay, so what do you have so far planned for the wedding.” said Sandy said in a high pitched squeal.

  “Well, I know where I want the wedding ceremony and the reception. I want the ceremony at the stream of dreams, and I want the reception in the Forest of the Knight,” said Jessica.

  “Wow, that would be so pretty, and to think that I get to help you with your journey to becoming a princess.” she said with such glee.

  “I know this will be such a journey for me, and I’m so excited but I hope that the rest of the kingdom is too.”

  “Why do you think that the kingdom won’t like you?”

  “Well, I don’t think that the other commoners will like me being one of their rulers, and I used to be one of them.”

  “Jessica, don’t worry about it. I’m sure that everyone will love having you as a princess and maybe one day a queen. I know that me, D.J, and my father are.”

  “Thanks, that’s really nice of you to say. Now let’s get back to the wedding planning!”

  When Sandy and D.J got back to her house and went into the kitchen Sandy saw her father at the table weeping.

  “What’s wrong dad?” Sandy asked her father.

  “I had to break up with Brandy.”

  “I’m so sorry dad. If you would’ve told me that you were going to start dating again then I would’ve helped you pick some women to date.

  “But, when you were always out with D.J, Jessica, and prince Diovann, I would get lonely. I started looking for someone to keep me company. I went down to the Time Traveler Shop and I met this lady and she was crying and then I asked her what was wrong and it was history.” It was love at first sight until you came back and ruined it but its fine. Your happiness is more important than mine. You have a lot more life to live.

  “Well, it’s not my fault.”

  “I never said that it was

  “But da
d is it okay if I go and help Jessica with her wedding? Please dad she asked me too and I said that I would.”

  “You can go. But, don’t stay out too long.”

  It was after midnight when Sandy and D.J got to the kingdom. When Sandy got there Jessica was screaming at people, pulling her hair, and had gone through 31 pots of coffee. Sandy asked Diovann what happened to her. He said that it was all the wedding planning. Sandy, then after 6 hours finally calmed Jessica down. Then they got back to planning.

  The next day, Diovann was nowhere to be found. The whole kingdom went on a search party. They went to different islands and different kingdoms but he was still nowhere to be found. This is the seventh time that someone has done this. I hope that they find Diovann.

  All of a sudden this girl comes walking in with a Mean Girl attitude.

  “Um, who are you?” asked Jessica with a puzzled look on her face.

  “Well, since you’re too dumb to know who I am I guess that I’ll just tell you. I’m Amber Prescott.”

  “Okay. So what do you want?”

  “I want a date!”

  “What do you mean you want a date?”

  “I want a date from someone in the castle.”

  “Why would you want to do that?”

  “I want to be royalty. Didn’t you?”

  “Well no. I wanted to find true love and I did but know I can’t find him.”

  “Well, that’s stupid. But, if you ever want to see your fiancée again then you will let me date someone from the castle.”

  “Fine!”

  “Meet me at the Stream of Dreams at 12:00 noon.

  “Okay.

  When Jessica says that she’ll let Amber Prescott date someone from the castle she meant a whole other thing.

  When Jessica met Amber Prescott at the Stream of Dreams she was so excited. She saw her fiancée! Diovann was there with Amber Prescott!

  “Diovann!!! cried Jessica!

  “Jessica! I’ve missed you. By the way who the heck is this?” asked Diovann?

  “Oh, this is Amber Prescott. I told her that if she led me to you then I would let her date someone in the castle. But when I said that I meant something else and you will see what I meant.”

  “Okay honey.”

  “So, do you know who held you hostage for all that time?”

  “No, but I do remember what she looks like. She was kind of tall, long hair, a little chunky, and really mean. Oh also she thinks that she is better than everyone. I’ve never seen her before.”

  “Hmp. That’s weird. I’ll get one of guards to look into her to see who she is. I’m just glad that you’re all right.”

  “Me too!”

  “ All this lovey dovey stuff is cute, but where is my husband, I-I-I mean date. Excuse my little word mishap. But Jessie where is my date?” said Amber Prescott in one of the rudest tones that you have ever heard.

  “First of all my name is not Jessie. It’s Jessica and usually I wouldn’t give or do something to someone who is so rude but since you brought me back to my Diovann and I promised you I guess I have to keep my word. So tonight you will be having dinner with Vinnie at 6:00 in the castle. Don’t be late.”

  “Wait, isn’t Vinnie one of the guys that washes dishes?” asked Diovann.

  “Well, she didn’t say that she wanted royalty and besides she’ll like him.”

  “Well I’m worried.”

  “Don’t be. She’ll be fine.”

  It’s not her that I’m worried about.”

  “I’m so excited. This will be great.” said Amber Prescott.

  At 6:30 Amber Prescott was nowhere to be found.

  “I guess that she just stood me up then” said Vinnie in a depressed voice.

  “Well, I’m not surprised” said Diovann.

  “Hey! Don’t say that she could come. She doesn’t know that he isn’t a part of the royal family.” said Jessica sternly.

  At 7:30 here comes Amber Prescott.

  “Sorry I’m late everyone.”

  “Don’t play that with me. I told you 6:00 sharp and you are here at 7:30. You’re a 1 hour and 30 minutes late. How could you do this? Vinnie has been here thinking that you were setting him up and then he left weeping.” said Jessica.

  “I’m what they call fashionably late, honey. I’m guessing that you wouldn’t know anything about that considering the way that you dress.”

  “First of all I do dress really nicely unlike someone that I’m looking at and you’re the only one that I’m looking at so you finish the rest. Also 1 hour and 30 minutes is not fashionably late. Five minutes is fashionably late.” “Well to me I’m cute and I’m ready for this date. By the way, where is this Vino guy?”

  “I’ll go get him.” said Diovann.

  “So, said Amber Prescott how do you like being royalty?”

  “Oh, well its fine I’m not used to all the nice fancy treatment but I still think that its fine.”

  “So did you want to marry prince Zander?”

  “You know you a little special. Now, I don’t think that you know exactly what you’re talking about.”

  “Oh. I think I do.”

  “You were mad at Diovann because he broke your heart but it was actually the Allinake and he was mad that his kingdom and stuff wasn’t at the top and Diovann’s is. Isn’t that what happened? At least that’s what I hear.”

  “You know not to believe everything that you hear. Right? Well I guess not.”

  “Honey, you don’t know what you’re talking about.” Oh, well honey I think that I do. I think that there is something suspicious about you and I’m going to figure it out. There are secrets about everyone and I’m going to figure them out about you. So you better watch your back because you never know whose right around the corner.”

  “Are you ready for your date yet?”

  “Yes! I can’t wait to be royalty.”

  “Then let’s go.”

  When Jessica and Amber Prescott got back to the table Vinnie was standing there waiting. He looked so nervous. But Amber Prescott felt kind of bored. Amber had to use the restroom and Jessica just had to go with her. It’s a girl thing.

  Amber said that Vinnie was talking too much! How could someone talk too much and there not even getting a word in?

  “Jessica, this date is going horribly. I mean he seems like a nice guy. I like him a lot but I don’t think that he is royalty.” said Amber.

  “What does it matter?! I didn’t find Diovann and try to marry him like every other girl in this kingdom I was the only girl that didn’t. Don’t you think that everyone would like to be royalty? I wanted to when I was a little girl but then I just said that in my own special way I’m always a princess. That’s what you need to do to yourself.” Jessica said with an angered tone in her voice.

  “Yes but I want the whole world to know that I’m royalty.”

  “Look, you don’t get it do you. You can be a princess in your own special way. You could even be a queen! You could be the queen of sports, creativity, writing, arts and humanity, music, but my favorite the queen of life. Live and do all of these things to the fullest. Do everything that you want to do in your life.”

  “You know that you’re not the boss of me and if you were, I still wouldn’t listen to you. I don’t even like you.”

  “Well, isn’t that a shocker! All I’m saying is to stop trying so hard on some things and it’ll come to you instead of you going to it. Just remember that.”

  When Jessica and Amber Prescott got back to the table and they started eating dinner Amber actually let him talk. Then they were going back and forth talking and the night went on and then before they knew it, it was 1:00 a.m. They had a great night.

  The next day Sandy and D.J went back to the castle to see if Jessica and Diovann needed any help with the wedding. But, when they got to the castle they saw Amber there barking orders to everyone, including the king and queen!

  “Hi! I’m Sandy and this is my boyfriend D.J. W
ere good friends with Diovann and Jessica.”

  “Oh so you can work and clean this place too! I’m Amber Prescott and I’m dating Vinnie, Diovann’s brother. When Diovann’s father dies, which will be soon and then he dies which will be sooner than you think then he will be on the throne and I will be queen.” with a scheming tone in her voice.

  HMPH! I wonder why she said that Diovann would be off the throne sooner than we think.

  When Sandy and D.J were leaving the castle they spotted Amber and two guys. Amber was giving them something and telling them to “GET THE JOB DONE AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT! THEN I SHALL HAVE MY TIME ON THE THRONE!”

  Sandy and D.J were so nervous about this and didn’t know if they were going to have the plan taken out that night so they went back to the castle and told Diovann and Jessica not to trust Amber and that she may be trouble.

  They asked why and Sandy said because I think that she was hiring a hit man to kill you! She said “GET THE JOB DONE AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT! THEN I SHALL HAVE MY HAVE MY TIME ON THE THRONE!” I don’t know what that means but I think that she’s trying to get you killed so then she can be the queen.

  “I’m guessing that she doesn’t know that Vinnie isn’t royalty; he’s just a servant around the castle. “said Sandy. But there’s nothing wrong with that.

  The next morning Diovann wasn’t worried. These kind of things happened all the time. But it was sort of unusual that Amber Prescott would want to try and kill him.

  He was very leery about this person and or people that were out to get him. He didn’t know if it was Zander, Amber Prescott, the Grange or the Allinake. Whoever it was he was going to get to the bottom of it. TO BE CONTINUED…

  I had a Life

  I was asleep in my bed when my aunt was in the doorway saying, “Come on Jordan we got to go!”

  I had no idea what was happening, but all I could hear is a loud siren sound knocking on my window. I slipped on my Sperry’s and ran outside with my jacket, and jumped in the front seat,

  I asked, “where are mom and dad?”

  She pointed and said, “In there”

  There when she said that I realized that my mom is having my sister.

  My mom raced to the hospital Central Baptist Hospital with my little sister, Peace, I was so worried and I did not know what to do. I was crying, my sister is going to die. I was REALLY looking forward to seeing her, but I wasn’t sure if I was going to be happy or not, so I sat there with my aunt and my grandma in the hospital waiting room. The waiting room smelt like new shoes and they smell like rubber. I saw a lot of people with no legs or arms. I began to think about if my sister will have special needs, what if she is born dead? Down deep inside I was crying, hard. I waited till it was time to go home without mother and Peace. They stayed behind in the doctor room with baby Peace.
