Chapter 1
He was shouting. He was dreaming. He was shouting in his dream. His body was in pains. Real as well as imaginary. He was trying hard to move his legs, run; his hands were trying frantically to defend himself from blows and to some how manage to get free from the stranglehold of his captors. But alas! He was not at all able to do anything and his captors were holding him in their vice like grip and taking him where he did not want to go.No…..I don’t want to go……NO……He woke up drenched in sweat. His T-shirt was soaked in sweat and he was feeling cold. Unnatural cold as the temperature was showing 25 degrees at the panel of his AC and outside it would have been not less than 38 degrees even though it was around midnight. But midnight in last week of May in Delhi is always this hot but he was feeling cold. He was Amit Sharma, IIT and IIM graduate who was working with a multi national company but the important thing is he was working….as he is not in any condition to go o office. He is constantly under delusion that he being stalked and his life is in danger. He has nightmares and is currently under going treatment with a well know psychologist of the city. Few months back Amit was a regular guy earning more than he would require for next two lives. He was genius of sorts and had made big leaps in the corporate world. He was South East Asia Head of the company and had every thing which a guy of 30 years would want from life. Except he was lonely. He had friends and girl friends. He used to part in weekends like others of his age but even in those parties he always felt lonely. There was something missing in his life. And he craved for it. He never was introvert type but the feeling of loneliness never left him since he started growing up. Not that he was brought up in a single child family. Actually he was brought up in a joint family in Varanasi, holiest of cities and had a very good childhood. But then in his heart he was very lonely. He always wanted to find out why but would never get any answers. He was very fond of sitting at ghats of Ganga for hours alone if would get chance which he seldom got as he was constantly surrounded by his brother and cousins. In reality he never got to sit alone on any ghats all of 30 years of his existence on Earth.
Now he was sitting alone in his flat at midnight and feeling nothing exalting as he thought he would be while sitting at ghats of Ganga. He was feeling fear. Fear of being hunted. Hunted by a force so strong that his powerful family would also be rendered useless. He was now feeling like a rabbit pursued by a dog…no by pack of dogs, all hungry and lusting after his blood. He had very powerful reason to be afraid of these forces even though his psychiatrist and also his personal detective have time and again told him that he has nothing to fear. But he never actually believed them as his own subconscious has been telling him that there are reasons to be afraid of. He did not try to sleep again but started writing down what he remembered from his dream as was told by Dr. Singh his psychiatrist. He kept his dream book since he started going for treatment to Dr. Singh as the good doctor insisted on he jotting down every bit of information so that he can be told by the good doctor that there is nothing to be feared. Every bit, every detail he has written down has convinced Dr. Singh that Amit was suffering from post traumatic problems. The problems which started after his miraculous return, his return from death. His detective, Narendra Parmar, was also convinced that there was no danger to his life. He was even more convinced than Dr. Singh as he never saw anyone stalking Amit or being suspiciously moving around his house or office. Even after two months, now trusted friends of his, Dr. Singh and Narendra did not offer him solace he so desperately wants from them. What happened two months ago? It is more than two months, two months and 6 days precisely. He came back from dead. For, he was all, left as dead by his family and friends when his car was found washed up at a bank of Ganga near Haridwar more exactly three months and 21 days before is miraculous return. He was gone for 45 days. Gone without a trace. His car washed up at the bank and the all his belongings were in it without any hint of Amit. It was as if he was not even in the car when it fell some where in the Great river.
