What Do We All Want From Life ?
you for this act of generosity.”
Chris handed a visiting card to Julia and said “My company doors are wide open, hop in for an interview and we would love to have you work for us.”
Julia’s educational qualifications had not helped her in getting a decent paying job, but now her life was changing. She gave a huge shout which showed how happy she was. She made sure the guest was made happy and was very hospitable towards Chris. After Chris bade good bye and left their home, she was beaming with pride at what her husband had done.
She said “So you are a good human being after all” and gave a sarcastic smile. Tom was in no mood to find faults with her as he knew how much she had toiled till date and he gave her a hug and both of them realized that life is full of twists and turns, but that is the fun of it because at the end of the day hard work pays and it pays very well. Tom also found a better paying job in a few months and Julia was working for the best firm. Both of them started living a better life than before and happiness was present inside every room of their home now.
MORAL: All of us think we are the only ones making sacrifices, but there are many of them out there and inside our homes that sacrifice daily but do not boast or brag about it. Hard work pays well eventually.
Good Teenage Years?
Jack got up shocked, he had missed getting up early and he was a bit late for his exams. The previous day was a nightmare for him. He had had a bitter fight with his dad for not being able to buy his favourite bike as he wanted to show off in front of his school friends.
Jack’s dad entered his room and said “Morning son, I think you are late for your exams, better hurry up.”
When his dad was about to pat him on his back, he shoved his father away and went ahead to take his bath and get ready. Some sort of inbuilt frustration was there as he did not know how to react. Little do people in their teenage years know the difficulties of parents? They are always trying to criticise their parents for their wants, but do people actually realize that money is difficult to earn except for those lucky ones who have everything in their lives.
Jack’s dad knew it was one of his usual tantrums and coolly moved out of the room. Jack got ready and left home without even wishing his mother and father who were anxiously waiting to wish him. Jack’s mother was in tears at the frustration caused by their lack of money to help their son find happiness in life.
Jack was in a furious mood. He entered the school where he was studying, wished none of his friends and entered the room to take his exams. He searched for his mobile phone and to his shock found out that he had left it in his house. Jack forgot all about his anger when he got the exam paper, but a good student that he was, he was happy to see that all the questions in the paper were easy, as he had studied all of them well.
He completed his exam and immediately rushed back home as he could not forget the lack of having a bike when many of his friends were standing in front of their mean machines and were trying to impress the girls. “Hey Jack want to come over for a party by walk to my house in the evening!” ridiculed one of his fellow school mates.
Without even hearing to any of the comments he went back home using the local transportation and reached home. When he entered his garden space he was surprised to see a new bike standing in front of him adorning the lawn. He immediately went ahead and without even bothering to thank his parents hugged his bike so tightly like as if he was hugging his wife whom he had never met for a few years.
After the initial euphoria, he realized that he had to thank his parents. He went inside the house to hug his father tightly; the feeling of guilt was slightly seeping in. He called out for his dad and mom, but nobody was there in the house. He searched the house frantically for a few minutes and sat down on the sofa. All sorts of negative thoughts were hitting his mind.
This generally happens to all good humans, whenever we react selfishly we feel what we are asking for is right and let whatever happens we need it at that exact moment. This is because all of us have tuned our mind like this. Little do we think about what others are also capable of giving us, we always feel that our decision is final.
Jack did not what to do? His life was his parents. He was still feeling very bad about his treatment and behaviour towards his parents. He tried to calm himself down and later realized that he had left his mobile phone in his room itself. He ran to his room in a jiffy and got to his phone. He found around twenty five missed calls, and all of them were from the same unknown number. He tried calling back to the same number and it connected to a hospital.
The voice on the other side said “Morning, Sesame Hospital, How may I help you?”
Jack got the shock of his life time. He asked for his dad or mom but the voice asked for the patient’s name. Jack did not know who had been admitted to the hospital, so provided both the names. The receptionist asked him to be on the line for a few seconds and confirmed Jack’s dad as the patient and provided the ward details. Jack hung up and immediately rushed to the hospital on foot.
Jack caused lot of commotion on the streets running like a mad boy. He reached the hospital in no time and went to the ward to meet his father. Jack’s mom was crying and Jack’s dad was on a nebuliser. The moment he saw his mom she came up to him and started crying on his shoulders. Jack could not control his tears and started crying like a baby.
Jack said “What happened? Why is dad like this?”
At that precise moment the doctor one Mr. Xavier entered the ward. He asked “Are you Jack?”
Jack replied in the affirmative. The doc took him to a separate room and Jack got information regarding his dad’s health. The doc told him that his dad was out of danger but was still fragile.
The doc told him that Jack’s dad had ended up being hospitalised because of overwork. Jack could not believe his ears. His dad was a retired government employee; overwork was something new for him.
Xavier told him that his dad was working for a garage to make up for his lack of money for buying the bike and off late had been working overtime during midnight to make up for lost time.”Time is money my son, so please make sure that you take-up the responsibility, as his first cardiac arrest has been minor, but I am not sure if he can withstand another one.”
Jack literally collapsed, the flurry of emotions had a toll on Jack too and he started shivering and trembling. Xavier asked him to take some rest and went out of the room leaving Jack to himself.
Jack pondered over whatever he had done and what he could do next. He went over to the ward and luckily his dad was wide awake. He was no longer on the nebuliser.
Jack’s dad said with a broad smile “I am fine son, the hospital authorities have said they will look after the payment too. So, did you like your new bike?”
Jack did not know how to react, he took the remaining space on the hospital bed and slept next to his dad and started crying, hugging his father tightly. It was a very emotional moment; a few of the nurses too could not control their emotions and started shedding tears of happiness.
Jack promised complete happiness to his parents, after that incident he was not bothered about showing off or making girlfriends. He studied hard and started getting the best grades in class and started working part time in a food joint and started becoming completely independent. His parents were his life and he started leading a life of complete contentment.
MORAL: Happiness is in our hands, if we allow the mind, which is a monkey to run after all sorts of desires then we can all be rest assured that we are missing out on the greatest gifts of our lives, our parents.
Girlfriends?
Sam was one of the most handsome males of his neighbourhood and why in his entire company probably, but he too had a problem in his life. He was 24 but still was single and had not had even a casual affair with anyone till date. He was working for a great company, he had enough savings in his bank accounts but every time the only thing that was on his mind was that he did not have a girlfriend.
He should have realized that
this was probably destiny, there are so many people who wish for a bank account with great savings and a great job irrespective of having girlfriends, but as they say our human mind always thinks of the negative things in life rather than the positive ones.
He had a very bad habit, he used to stay alone in a rented apartment, and so in the night he had a habit of going to different pubs in the city in search of girls. He was of very strong character and he had no intention of hunting for girls for his pleasure, but he was on the lookout for a strong relationship, but looking for them in a pub was probably one of the mistakes he should not have committed, as destiny had a very strong lesson to teach him.
One night at around 7:30 he started for his daily routine to the pub. He entered the ‘Flow Pub’. He had made a few friends there by now, but none of them were interested in a long term relationship with him. On that fateful night he met a girl whom he had never seen in his life till date, he felt that she was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen, she was pretty tall with knee length long hair and Sam was caught staring at her by the girl. She approached him and spoke in a very professional manner. The communication was very formal both of them asked each other regarding their professions and the place where they were put, etc.
Sam’s brain was
