Stepping Outside Oneself - A Paranormal Suspense
Chapter 2
The RAV 4 flipped.
The world was an elegant ballet of slow motion physics. The gray, watery world around me rotated in three dimensions as if I were an astronaut in one of those training gyroscopes. There was no sense of up, down, or sideways. Just gray trees circling around gray stripes of road and gray billowing clouds.
The rain seemed to come up from the ground like an elaborate fountain.
The front corner of the car bounced off the road with a curious crunch.
My body was splayed wide, held in place by the seat belt, but otherwise stretched like a cat falling and hoping for a safe landing.
Every moment was fully engaged. There was nothing else. Just me, the gray rain, the turning, lifting, falling, lifting –
SLAM.
