Odd ends
8. Turn off the alarm
It was Friday and a perfect night for sleeping. Only, I could not sleep. I lay there until nearly three before I heard it, a low soft sound almost like that of a purring cat. Could not imagine what it was. Got up to look around but found nothing. Even went down in the basement to look. Back upstairs while sipping coffee my loud alarm went off in the bedroom.
That sound stopped.
Still not sure what caused that purring sound I had breakfast and got dressed for the day. And oh, what a day it was! Sitting at my picture window I watched warm wind and cool rain change over to cold wind, freezing rain, and ice before wild blown snow. All day clouds squeezed tighter and tighter together until the sky was solid looking like a roof.
Just about dark the wind died down to a gentle pleasant breeze. It warmed and all the snow and ice started melting. Again, I had trouble sleeping, dozed, woke up sometime after eleven, and once more heard that purring sound.
Laying there I came to realized what I was listening to was a very tired Mother Nature snoring after a hard day of working to make all that awful weather. About midnight I came to understand what had happened.
Last morning my loud alarm woke her early and it angered her. I did not want that to happen again. So, I rolled over and turned my alarm off before drifting off to sleep.
The end
