"Guilt?"
"Um-hum. Over opting to retire from his more active role, or rather, his resurrection of your more active role. You know, the role he thinks none of us knows about." With an offhanded shrug, Sheridan ambled back into the party.
"What was that all about?" Daphne asked, walking out to join her husband.
Pierce's teeth gleamed, and he looped an arm about his wife's waist. "It's about an extraordinary family, Snow Flame—a family that, mere hours ago, increased by one remarkable young woman. And about a legend that, thanks to all of us, will live on forever."

Author's Note
The Theft afforded me a spectacular, first-time opportunity of bringing back not one but two beloved families from my previous novels (and to embellish upon both families as they grow in number!). When I first contemplated writing Noelle's book, it was not my intention to meld the characters of "Yuletide Treasure" with those of The Last Duke. That decision was made by Noelle and Ashford. You see, every time I visualized Noelle, I kept getting the same picture of the man by her side—and that man was Ashford Thornton, the son of Daphne and Pierce and the revived Tin Cup Bandit. Then again, who better to meet the challenge of Noelle? I asked myself.
Thus, Ashford Thornton emerged, as vivid and compelling as his father before him. And now, having completed The Theft, it seems I have several additional Thorntons whose images are engraved in my mind and heart, not to mention a certain younger Bromleigh sister who refuses to be forgotten…
So I have the very strong feeling we haven't seen the last of the Thorntons or the Bromleighs.
In any case, I hope Noelle and Ashford brought you the same joy, excitement, suspense, and humor (along with an occasional tear) that they brought me. If so, I've accomplished all I set out to do.
Onward to my current project. My next two novels will be a two-book series entitled The Gold Coin and The Silver Coin. They're about two women—cousins by birth, friends by choice—who are separated by circumstance and reunited by fate to fulfill their grandfather's dream when he gifted them each with a precious coin. But not before they must confront deadly enemies and come to terms with two extraordinary men…
I hope the preview Pocket Books has provided of The Gold Coin makes you as eager as I am to meet both Anastasia and Breanna Colby, and to dive into Anastasia's suspenseful story as she reunites with her cousin in England after living ten long years in America. Enter Damen Lockewood—an important figure from the Colby family's past and the unexpected hero of Anastasia's future.
