The trio climbed back into their SUV after Tripp, and the other Enforcers had checked it over to make sure they had not missed someone putting another delayed bomb into it. When they declared it fit to drive, they had sped toward their new home, but more importantly were their men who had been injured. Jax talked to the men the whole way to the compound, not caring at all the rush of adrenalin was making her weepy. It was almost over. The week of torment, her parents, everything. She was heading to a new and fresh start with her family.
Tripp left his team to do clean up, so the human police when they showed up would see a crash of two vehicles, with all the people safe. Escaping in the nick of time before their cars had ignited because of a leaking gas tank. All the remnants of a bomb we removed.
The car that left had been found abandoned at the small airport that was the closet to them. Apparently, two of Tripp’s men had given chase but had been too late. But they had been able to get the plane’s number, and even though the smaller aircraft didn’t have to file a flight plan, they knew who owned the plane. Diavolo had at least revealed that he was definitely involved in the plot to kidnap Jax.
Once they entered the compound, they were swept off to a doctor to be checked over and then shown to a private suite with only a request from Orfeo and his mates to meet them in the study to talk when they were ready.
When they were finally alone, Jax let loose; she cried as both her mates held her and soothed her. She cried for her parents again, and for the Pack and Clan that were sacrificing for her and her mates. And finally for them, they were finally safe.
“Princess, you are making me worried here,” Dante whispered into her ear as she tried to get control of herself. It seemed she had been keeping things bottled up for too long, and they finally let go.
“Me too,” she whispered and sniffled.
“We are safe, and the Pack and Clan are safe. Some of them began arriving today, according to Tripp,” Brin whispered, “We will find the man responsible for this, and he will pay.”
“Diavolo,” Jax whispered.
“Yes,” Dante said and then stood up. “But we can talk about that later. Unfortunately, we need to meet with Orfeo and talk. Tripp will fill him in on the important stuff, but we have got to solidify our place on the Senate.”
Jax sighed and then stood up and smiled. “Can I at least have a kiss?”
“Princess, you never have to worry about that, I will always make time for you. Together we have to do this, for our Pack and Clan,” Dante said and drew her into his arms and kissed both of her puffy eyes and then her mouth, slowly and gently until she thought she would start crying again.
Brin embraced her from behind; she turned, and he kissed her just as sweetly. “Tonight, when we are all done with this shit, we will lie in this rather large bed they have given us and talk.”
Jax nodded and then frowned. “Wait, did they bring the bags up?”
Dante laughed and said, “Really? Worried about your shopping?”
“No dumbass, I need something before we leave,” Jax growled and then saw the pile of bags in the closet, and she went to them. Pulling out the one she knew her treasure was in, she smiled and took out the small boxes and carried them into the room.
Dante looked at her curiously, and Brin smiled when he saw the name on the box and elbowed his friend. “Hey, it is the Harry Winston boxes.”
Jax smiled, turned around and lifted the lid of all three of the boxes and took out the ring she had found for them. When she turned and faced them, she grinned. “Brin, I know this is a human tradition, and I wanted to make sure that we all were represented in this mating. So, I found us wedding rings that seemed to fit us the best.”
Brin laughed when she slid the thick platinum and gold ring on his finger. It fit perfectly, and he looked at it closer and saw the diamonds made a shape. Laughing when he looked up at her and back down at the ring, it had a wolf on it.
Then she turned to Dante and held out her hand, when she slipped the ring similar to Brin’s on his finger, he laughed. On it was a king’s crown with rubies and diamonds.
Finally, she handed them the ring she had picked out for herself—the men took it and smiled when they saw what she found. The same gold and platinum style ring and on the top held three circles entwined together, with the center being a heart.
“I love you,” she whispered when they both put the ring on her finger.
Her men replied, “You are our heart.”
Epilogue
Orfeo, Cat, and Tripp waited in the study for their new members to arrive. When Dante opened the door, Cat rushed to him and hugged him.
“I am so happy you are all safe,” the Senate Alpha female said.
Dante turned and made all the introductions, and Cat took Jax’s hand and squeezed it. “I heard you had a little trip to Paris and went shopping? Wait until you talk with Bama, from the New Council, you will love her.”
Orfeo got right down to business asking about the men who were injured.
Dante spoke, “My men are all doing well, since Jax had the idea of asking the Dolce and Gabbana people how they stopped their models from catching on fire on the runway. The owner was happy to spray the pants and shirts she bought, considering how much more money she spent. She used the excuse that we were in a photo shoot. He was quite taken with our Brendan and asked for his number.”
They went on to explain their whole plan that Dante and Brin made. The one thing they had not counted on was that Diavolo would personally come and try to kidnap Jax. The extra car had thrown them, but all-in-all, it had been successful.
Tripp began explaining about what they discovered about Diavolo. “The man who tried to kidnap you is Diavolo. Orfeo and he have a past; the crazy asshole seems to think he, and Orfeo are mates. He wants to kill us and destroy the Senate so Orfeo and he can take over Europe. All very psychotic and dramatic all rolled into one. With the New Council dealing with Roarke and us having to deal with Diavolo, I suspect we are going to have to fight to get this Senate off the ground.”
“No worries there, you already have your first seat. Jax is the Alpha of her Pack and the White Wolf; I am the Seer,” Dante said. Jax nodded and reached out to take her mates hand, in a sign of agreement.
“I am the token human,” Brin laughed and looked at Cat. “Well, at least one of them. Does anyone know exactly who is supposed to be on the Senate?”
Orfeo looked at his mates and sighed before turning back to them. “We must have a sitting member from all the magical communities. Although I am not sure, nor is anyone else about what that entails. I did receive a call from a Fae Clan in Sweden. They are sending a representative to speak with us about what we need. His name is Erik Sillen. He is the son of the leader of his Clan in Sweden. For you, we will have to have the ceremony. My mother is planning it now.”
Cat grinned at Jax. “Maybe we will get to go back to Paris for a quick trip to shop for a dress!”
Jax laughed and said, “Only if I get to eat my breakfast under the Eiffel Tower, I missed that this time.”
“What about the secretary?” Dante asked briskly. He knew which one it was. Her name was Tonya, and she had been a pain in his ass since the time she was hired. She wanted him and Orfeo together. When Orfeo came home with his mates, she had been livid. Dante had told Orfeo that she had pitched a fit, and he had been too nice to actually fire her.
Cat grinned. “No worries, I took care of little miss bitchy pants.”
Dante laughed and looked at his Queen. She was turning into a down right wonderfully Alpha female like the one in the States. Dante was going to have to keep an eye on the female mates. They tended to get rowdy; at least, that is what Tripp warned him about.
There was a knock at the door, and Orfeo rose and answered it. The other secretary was holding out the phone to him laughing. “Here he is. I would love for you to call me anytime with the recipe,” the woman said and Dante rolled his eyes. What the hell
was happening around here?
Jax had remained quiet taking everything in that everyone was saying. It had been a long day. She listened as Orfeo talked into the phone and laughed. “I am very appreciative of this, Cami. Yes, I will tell her and please ask your mate to call me in the morning.”
He hung up. “Apparently, Quin and Jaden have arranged for a human woman to come and fill in for Tonya. Her name is Mia, and they said she has had some of the same problems as Cat. She escaped from Roarke months ago, and has asked for shelter to hide. They thought this would be the best place for her. They do not know the extent to her problem; she has not opened up to anyone. Cami thought maybe if she were far enough away from Roarke, she would feel safe enough to answer questions. They trust her, and so will we, for now.”

Diavolo threw the phone against the wall, and it shattered. “That bitch is going to die.”
“Who Sire?” his dumbass number one said. He was new, after killing the last one Diavolo had promoted from within.
“Mia,” Diavolo spat the name.
“And why are we killing her?” the dumbass said.
“You don’t ask why; you only do. But I am feeling a little generous. Mia is the human that Roarke was supposed to keep under control. Her father is some big hot shot in the American government, and she has somehow found out about us, and was going to her father. We had her captive, and somehow she escaped. Now she has surfaced again. And she is coming here.”
