Yearning Devotion
“The media can kill a business and I didn’t want to risk it or deal with all the possible backlash. Here I was in the middle of what could be made into quite a big deal, no one really had known we were married and now we were getting divorced, it would be quite the scandal and then Cassie caught me with Gwen and you bet she would have shared that as well. It was just a nightmare for me. Stop this woman who was just coming to mean so much to me and deal with all the backlash I know Cassie would have caused or let Gwen leave and calm Cassie down.
“Deep down, I guess part of me thought Gwen was too good to be true anyway. She was this sexy, smart, talented woman with a beautiful bright soul. I figured, why should I fight to be with her when she probably had already forgotten me. I knew she already had you, what did she really want with me? You’ve always been there and I was just a visitor in her life.” He rubbed his hand up and down Gwen’s thigh as he spoke. He shook his head. “But losing her changed things in my life. Especially when I was in a situation where I couldn’t come even try to find her. It was the most frustrating thing I’ve ever dealt with my whole life. Wanting to get back and being unable to. It was my true nightmare but if I’d left and come back I’d have been fired. It was too big a project to leave at such a critical point especially when they were having issues.
“I’m not a young man, I’ve lived a lot in my years. I’ve slept around, I’ve been with multiple women at the same time, I’ve had sex in crazy places. But no woman has ever caused more than a ripple in my pond of life. Gwen was like a huge boulder that fell in and changed the shape of it. I might not have the love that you two have between each other, but I do love her.”
“I still hate you for being selfish and not thinking about her…” McKayla started and held up her hand to stop Cole when he tried to interrupt. “BUT, I can see your side of things. I suppose. Do it again and I’m going to hurt you. I promise you that. She is my girl and she is my world. Although I’m willing to allow you into our world, it is only as long as you keep her happy.”
“What if she chooses me over you?” Cole threw it out there. He had to know. What if Gwen decided she no longer wanted to be a bisexual and only wanted to be with him?
“Then that is something we will deal with at the time. Are you going to try to convince her to do that?” McKayla raised an eye brow at him.
“No. I have no intention of convincing her to do anything but keep me around. I don’t want to get in the way of your relationship, just as I don’t want you to get in the way of Gwen and I’s relationship. I think we can make this work as long as we are all respectful.” Cole held out his hand. “You willing to work with me even if it is only for Gwen’s sake, her happiness?”
“I suppose. You aren’t too bad to look at. Even if you are a guy.” McKayla shook his hand.
When Gwen opened her eyes, she found she was in the same position she had drifted off in. She blinked a few times. It was nearly dark in the room now. The TV had a blue square bouncing around on it. She grabbed the remote and turned it off. She sat up and stretched before looking to her side and seeing McKayla had her head tilted to the side and was sleeping. She turned her head and found Cole in a similar position. She smiled and gentle roused each of them before showing them both to the bedroom where all three curled in to bed together. Cole slipped off his shoes, slacks and shirt, but kept on his boxer briefs and undershirt.
Gwen smiled as she cuddled her face onto McKayla’s chest, her arm wrapped around her waist, her leg thrown over hers. Cole was spooned against her back. His arm over her waist, his hand resting on McKayla’s stomach. One of his legs over her leg that was still on the bed. It was oddly comfortable for Gwen. She’d never felt so taken care of and loved.
Chapter 27
Gwen woke to a strange sensation. As sleep slowly cleared from her mind, she realized what it was. She was extremely turned on and wet. She realized there were hands massaging her breasts as she laid on her back. She lifted her head to look down and see McKayla smiling up at her. She moved her hands to slide up under Gwen's shirt, pushing it up as she went, exposing her stomach and eventually her breasts. McKayla was kissing up her stomach as the skin was exposed. She sucked one of her nipples into her mouth when she reached Gwen's breasts. Gwen arched her back and bit her lip to keep from moaning.
Gwen whipped her head over to look at where Cole was sleeping. His back was to them and she could see the slow movements of his breathing. McKayla wasn't paying any attention to where Cole was though. She was busy sucking and flicking her tongue over Gwen's nipple. Gwen reached up to grab onto McKayla's neck and back, pressing her close as she slightly lifted one of her legs to press against McKayla's body.
McKayla shifted and pressed her leg between Gwen's. She grinded herself onto Gwen's leg at the same time she was pressing against Gwen's pussy with her leg. She leaned up and pressed her lips to Gwen's. Her mouth opened and their tongues met as they continued to slowly grind on each other. McKayla pulled back as her breathing was coming quicker. She dragged her tongue over the edges of Gwen's ear before grabbing her chin and forcing her to look at Cole's back, never once stopping their slow grind. She spoke softly into her ear, "Look. He is still sleeping. He has no idea I'm fucking you right here next to him."
Gwen couldn't respond. Just looking at Cole's back while McKayla worked her into a frenzy nearly pushed her into an orgasm. Gwen had a hand in McKayla's hair as she kissed down her throat to suck hard where her shoulder and neck met. Gwen's other hand was on McKayla's hip, holding tight. They were both moving slightly faster but trying not to move too much and wake Cole up. When McKayla bit down on that tender spot, Gwen arched her back, her hand clenching tight around McKayla's hair and hip as her orgasm rushed through her. McKayla followed her over the edge, moaning quietly into her neck.
“Now that’s a nice way to wake up.” Gwen spoke softly. She listened for a moment to the slow breathing sounds come from Cole. “Guess he’s a deep sleeper.”
“I’ll have to remember that if he stays over again because that was fucking hot.” McKayla smiled a devilish smile at her. Gwen just rolled her eyes.
“What if he’d woken up?” Gwen said as she ran her hand softly up McKayla’s side then back down to her hip.
“Dunno. Ask if he wanted to join?” McKayla winked at her. Gwen pushed up on her elbows and looked at her.
“Really? Just that easy? You are willing to share everything with him?” Gwen didn’t expect it to be easy to balance having two people in her life that she had to care about, but it’d make it a lot easier if they got along.
“Sure. Not all the time. Not every time. But I do love seeing you get off from someone else. I don’t have my own orgasm distracting me from watching.” She pushed the hair back from Gwen’s cheek, tucking it behind her ear and resting her palm on her cheek. “And you know I’d do anything to make you happy.”
“Well, we’ll just have to see about that.” Gwen laid her head back down, but McKayla started to move.
“I’m going to go make some smoothies for breakfast. Well, after I shower.” Giving her a quick kiss, McKayla disappeared out into the hall. Only moments later, Gwen heard the shower start. She rolled onto her back and stared at the ceiling. After a moment, she rolled over to look at Cole’s broad back. Even under the t-shirt he had on she could see the lines of his muscles. She ran her finger over one of the lines softly. Instantly his breathing changed and he rolled over to look at her.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you. I was just admiring your back.” Gwen softly smiled at him. Cole reached out and pulled her hip till her body was pressed fully against his.
“Oh, I’ve been awake for a while. I don’t think anyone could sleep through the noises you two were making. Not any red blooded man that is.” Cole rolled his hips pressing his very hard to miss erection into her stomach.
“Oh. Why didn’t you say anything?” Gwen tried to hold back the moan that wanted to escape.
“Because I didn’t want to int
errupt. I was afraid you might stop and it was hot as hell to listen to. Only thing better other than joining in, would’ve been to watch. But we’ll have time for that another day.” He rolled onto his back pulling her on top of him so she was straddling him. He leaned up and met her for a kiss. His hand gripped the back of her head pulling her down with him as his other hand slipped up her thigh to rest on her hip. His tongue slid into her mouth and circled hers. She rolled her hips against the hard ridge of his erection and he groaned. She ran her hands over his chest, flicking his nipples briefly. Her fingers ran along all the well-defined muscles in his chest then abs while she gently bit her lip. Before she could make it any farther, he flipped her over and was on top of her. He tsked her. “Naughty girl. You have to wait for that.”
“I don’t want to.” Gwen pouted. But Cole was off the bed, pulling on his slacks as he looked at her.
“Yes. We moved entirely too fast last time and this time I want to take our time. Do things the right way.” He ran his hand through his hair and Gwen licked her lips watching the play of his muscles in his arms as he did so. She had to force her eyes back to his. “I swear you are the only woman that makes me lose control. Things never go as planned with you.”
“I’m sorry, I think.” Gwen frowned. She sat up on the bed, dangling her legs over the edge. “I’m certainly not trying to make you do things you don’t want to.”
“That’s not how I meant it.” Cole groaned and scrubbed his hand over his face before meeting her eyes again. “You are temptation. Everything about you tempts me. I even find your voice fascinating.”
Gwen walked to him and pulled his face to hers before gently kissing him. “That’s one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me.”
“Good morning.” McKayla came in holding two glasses filled with a thick white concoction. Gwen took one but Cole shook his head.
“No thanks. I prefer food. Plus I need to get to work.” Cole pulled Gwen to him. He kissed her forehead and clasped the side of her neck with his hand before pulling back to meet her eyes. “Call me, ok?”
“Sure.” Gwen gave him a half smile. He grabbed his dress shirt from the dresser. Slapping McKayla on the ass as he walked by was his way of saying bye to her. They both heard the front door softly close a few moments later.
“Well, that was interesting.” McKayla laughed as she plopped down on the edge of the mattress.
“He refused to have sex with me.” Gwen took a drink of her smoothie. Today’s wasn’t half bad at least. McKayla liked to mix random things together and call them ‘healthy’ but Gwen wasn’t sold on the idea. She went along with it most mornings though because it made McKayla happy.
“Really? Did he say why?” McKayla asked as she scooted back on the bed and crossed her legs, drinking her own smoothie.
“Just that he wants to take it slow. Don’t think I’ve ever heard a man say that one before.” She shrugged and pushed her hair over her shoulder. “It’ll be interesting that’s for sure.”
“So, was he awake?” McKayla wiggled her eyebrows at her. “I’m pretty sure he was.”
“Yes. You sneak. Why didn’t you say anything then?”
“Because. It’s fun to tease him. I actually thought he’d join in.”
“You are bad.” Gwen laughed. “I’m sure you’ll get to watch us together another time.”
“Mmm. I hope so.”
“I’m going to design. Go do something besides fantasize about me having sex with someone.” Gwen walked out the door.
“I already dream about doing it to you all day, now just with someone else.” McKayla’s voice trailed out of the room. Gwen rolled her eyes. That woman never got enough, but Gwen had other things to do besides roll around naked all day every day.
Gwen had been in her design room for three hours when her phone started ringing. She didn’t recognize the number. But answered anyway. She was surprised to hear it was MHKR Human Resources. They were offering her a job and if she accepted, she would be expected to start the following Monday. She hadn’t expected to get the call since Cole had said he didn’t know if he wanted her working there. But she was pleased. It was the job she’d always wanted, the fact that she’d get to see Cole everyday was only an added benefit.
After she hung up, the phone started ringing again before she could even put it down. She answered immediately, figuring the lady from Human Resources had forgotten to tell her something.
“Hello?” Gwen said after sliding her finger across the screen.
“Gwen.” A male voice rumbled through the phone. The voice made everything inside Gwen freeze, a cold shiver ran down her spine. It was a voice she hadn’t heard in a very very long time. It was a voice she’d hoped to never hear again. She nearly dropped the phone, but clenched it hard in her clammy palm. Her stomach dropped out and her entire body snapped to attention as she quickly looked around the room. She ran to the windows and pulled the curtains closed and pressed her back to the wall between them, breathing hard as she slid down curling in on herself.
“I-I-I-I’m sorry y-y-you have the wrong number.” She tried to sound as normal as she could but her voice still quivered. Gwen swallowed hard. Her heart felt like it was trying to get out of her chest it was beating so fast.
“Don’t lie to me bitch. It might have taken me over 10 years to find your ass, but trust me, you will pay for what you did to my brother. I now know everything about you and I’m coming for you.”
“I-I-I don’t know what you are talking about.” It took a moment for her to remember he was on the phone, not in front of her. She pulled the phone away and jammed her thumb on the red ‘end’ button before throwing it on the table scattering her design papers. She shoved to her feet, burst out of her room and ran down the hallway into the living room. She could hear the phone ringing again back where she’d thrown it. McKayla was nowhere to been seen as she whipped her head around she yelled out for her.
“I’m right here. What’s wrong?” McKayla spoke as she stepped from the kitchen with a glass of water in her hand. Gwen rushed to her before pulling her into a hug so hard that water splashed from the glass onto the floor.
“Oh my god. It’s happening.” Gwen’s whole body was shaking.
“What is happening?” McKayla pushed back to look at her face. “What is going on, Gwen? You are shaking.”
“He found me.” Gwen broke away from her and started pacing. She was mumbling to herself. “Oh my god. He found me. I didn’t think he’d find me. I didn’t think he would be able to. What does he want from me?”
“GWEN!” McKayla yelled, clapping her hands. She’d put her glass on the counter while Gwen was pacing. She grabbed Gwen’s hands and dragged her to the couch before forcing her to sit. “Tell me what the hell is going on.”
“He found me. Oh god, the men that had snatched me, the younger brother just called me. He said he knew everything about my life and that I was going to pay for what I did. How did he find me? Fuck!” Gwen put her elbows on her knees, her face in her hands as tears started pouring down her face. The complete and utter fear that she’d lived with for years was now back and throbbing painfully as all the memories came into her mind as well. She feared for McKayla. If he got Gwen again, she’d be prepared to deal with it, but Gwen didn’t think she would be able to handle if he had McKayla for even one second. Keeping McKayla away was priority number one for her.
“It’ll be ok. We can just go to the cops. They’ll know what to do.” McKayla rubbed her hand up and down Gwen’s back. At her words, Gwen jumped up from the couch.
“I can’t! I KILLED his brother. I’m a murderer! I’m sure there was more than enough evidence in the house to show I was there. Plus, I left the bloody fucking knife there. It had to have had my fingerprints all over it. I was a homeless kid back then with no family, no friends. They would have no reason to believe my version of how it happened. If I’d gone in when I was pregnant I would’ve at least had proof, but now, years later, I have no p
roof. It’s his word and evidence against my word.” She was rambling she knew but she couldn’t stop the words from falling from her mouth. She fisted both hands in her hair in frustration.
“We will figure it out. There has to be a way to prove that you are innocent.” McKayla stood and pulled Gwen’s face to her chest as she wrapped her arms tightly around her back. “You know, maybe he is making it up. He might have just gotten a hold of your number some way. Did he say anything that makes you think he actually knows where you are?”
“No, I guess he didn’t. “ Gwen pulled back from McKayla. She took a few deep breaths, regaining her composure. She kissed McKayla tenderly before moving to pace the room again. “I refuse to let him take one more day from me. He will make his move when he wants and I’ll be ready. Think think think…”
Gwen walked back and forth across the room a few times as she thought. Eventually she stopped pacing and looked at McKayla, she knew what she had to do if he found her. She hugged McKayla tightly, “I love you.”
“I love you too.” McKayla rubbed her knuckles across Gwen’s cheekbone, planting a gentle kiss on her lips. “We will be ok. We will figure something out.”
“Yes, we will.”
Chapter 28
Gwen took a deep breath, ran her hands over her business skirt. Her hands were still slightly shaky, but the more time that past the better they got. It had been three days since she’d gotten the phone call. She needed to go down to Human Resources to fill out the paperwork for her position at MHKR. She was trying to carry on with her normal activities and not think about the man that may or may not be out there right now watching her. She had talked to Cole every night and they texted multiple times during the day. Their relationship was finally becoming a normal dating relationship so she had decided to keep the phone call from him. She had convinced herself that the brother had been bluffing because she hadn’t received any further calls since the missed call, messages or had anything unusual or out of place happen. So there was no use getting Cole going over something that very possibly was nothing. She just wanted to enjoy her life that she’d worked so hard for and the man that she finally had in her life who was willing to accept her for the person that she was.
