ABOUT THE AUTHOR
RICHARD HOLMES is one of Britain’s leading military historians. He is Professor of Military and Security Studies at Cranfield University and the Defence College of Management and Technology. He has presented seven television series for the BBC and is the author of many books including Redcoat, Tommy: The British Soldier on the Western Front and Sahib: The British Soldier in India. A Territorial infantry officer for thirty-six years, he is currently Colonel of The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment. He lives near Winchester in Hampshire.
