  Back in New Hampshire, Grace had set the phone back in its cradle, but his low simmering anger was rolling to a barely concealed boil. The bubbling water of his rage clattered against the inside lid of Grace's calm demeanor, but wouldn't stay contained for long.

  The two contractors had failed spectacularly. True enough, there were risks you took when you asked a third party to deal with crucial elements of a sensitive operation, but to be only four days into this and already have Strickland wise to something going on?unfathomable.

  Worse than unfathomable, it was unforgivable. A stupid, rookie mistake that was going to cost him time and money. Something would have to be done.
