* Look, I know it’s really residency rather than just being a British National that they are looking for; which is why passports are not supposedly adequate. But given the expense of coming up with a completely separate system (that doesn’t have a photograph) that needs to be renewed every 5 years, and given that passports now include so much biometric info and the rest, why not just add one line “Resident – England, or Greece, or Finland” or wherever. Is it beyond the wit of man? Clearly, in Brussels, it is. So - get a bleeding woman in charge then.
