The men raced back to the flight-deck, the huge slab of rock looming large on the screen. Belle was at the laser cannon and fired a glancing shot at the side of the rock which had it spinning away.
'Hang on,' yelled Danders as the plasma drive fired up and then she had control of the ship's direction. There came a roar throughout the ship as the smaller fragments and space dust pounded the ship. Danders had to use all her skills to find a way through the larger rocks.
'Watch out,' cried Matlock.
Belle fired the cannon again and a precious blast of energy reduced a large rock to powder. They all held their breath as the Romulus took a hammering on her hull. Seconds later, they were in clear space.
Belle and Danders both collapsed in their seats.
'That was fun,' said Belle. 'Now all we have to do is find out where the hell we are.'
'There's a big clue, I think,' said Davron, pointing at the screen. 'If I'm not mistaken, that is Earth.'
