The Tortoise and the Smartie

  Claire Welsh

“For Smartie’s sake Esther! Rose will not be happy when she finds out you’ve eaten her Barbie doll and Ken’s motorbike!” sighed Smartie, while pushing his glasses up his nose. He glanced round the room it was not a pretty sight and what would his lovely owner Rose think of him. Out of the corner of his eye he could see Esther very slowly approaching Rose’s lovely china tea set. “NO NO NONO!” yelled Smartie.

  CRASH!

Smartie could have gone crazy but she was only a baby tortoise. She had only arrived at the house a few weeks ago, it was nice to have company but she could be a big handful for an old tortoise. He slowly pushed all of the broken china underneath Rose’s red chair. Suddenly he caught a glimpse of some men carrying cardboard boxes. “Strange” thought Smartie.

Then came the day she finally left Smartie and Esther. Rose had said sorry so many times but his heart never stopped throbbing. He never in a million years would have guessed she’d leave them. And poor Esther, they had only just met thought Smartie. He heard the door shut and through puffy eyes waved them goodbye. He glanced back at Rose’s empty room but saw a sea of green shells pouring out of her window. He slowly wiped his red eyes and put on his fluffy bee slippers. Then suddenly thirteen tortoise heads popped out of thirteen green shells. “Awkward tortoise!” they all mumbled in unison.

It is Tuesday, a week since Rose had left and the mystery shells had appeared. Now all of the tortoises from abandoned homes were helping Smartie make a tortoise house. They were doing really well until Esther set them back by a week by eating all the tools and accidently knocking the whole house down. ‘For Smartie’s sake! I hope no-one thinks we’re related!’ mumbled Smartie.

The day after the incident involving someone, possibly named Esther, he was secretly eating Smarties from his secret Smartie stash. When Esther talked him through a weird human thing called a phone to say something about a Smartie shop.

And before you could say ‘I LOVE SMARTIES’ Smartie was out the door and onto the road. He was determined to refill his secret Smartie sack as he had just eaten the last one. When suddenly, WOOSH “What was that?” Smartie asked himself. He crossed the road again, WHIZZ CRUNCH SHATTER “Oh no! My smarties!!! My beautiful smarties!” he screamed. There were bits of his shell everywhere. But luckily the machinery thing hit him to the other side of the road. “I STILL GOT MY SMARTIES!” he shouted out loud in relief.

  A few days later….

“SMARTIE PARTY!” Smartie shouted with joy! Then Terry the tortoise yelled “BRING ON THE SMARTIES!” And as if nothing mattered anymore, it rained Smarties.

  My Friend’s An Alien!!!!!!

  Charlotte Williamson

It was Monday. I got up for school and got dressed. It seemed like an ordinary day until I got to school. There was this new girl her name was Pom Pom. She seemed nice but she looked a bit weird. She had blue hair and green skin, was wearing a bright red top and yellow shoes. Everyone thought she was just a normal girl that pretended she was an alien but I knew she was one I had to prove it some way! So I decided to investigate.

It was the next day and my mum told me to go to the library to find out more about aliens. When I was at the library I saw Pom Pom she said hi but I just pretended I couldn’t hear her so she did the same back.

When I went to class the next again day I bumped into Pom Pom we both said sorry to each other and said “Why don’t we both put the library behind us and be friends?” and that’s what we did.

When I got home my mum told me that Pom Pom had phoned and she said she wanted me to go to her house tomorrow I said ‘yes of course’ because I never ever get to go to anyone’s house.

It was the next day and I was on my way up to Pom Pom’s house when I saw her coming back from the shops so I walked her up to her house. The outside of her house was very gloomy and dark with a big brown gate and I was sure I saw bats flying around the top of the roof!

When I walked into her house there was a very dark staircase and lots of big pictures of aliens and U.F.OS also Pom Pom’s mum was standing at the door she didn’t look anything like a normal mum she was green in fact she looked the same as Pom Pom. She asked what we wanted for our dinner, Pom Pom was having slime balls so I asked for the same.

Pom Pom’s mum was making dinner so Pom Pom gave me a tour of their house. All of the rooms where really creepy but the worst room was her room. It was like a cell, no TV, no games, nothing! It was horrible. Her mum shouted us down for our dinner, it was the most horrible thing I had ever eaten but I better get used of it because Pom Pom asked me if I wanted to go to Mars and I replied “yes”

  I AM GOING TO MARS!
