Page 2 of Press Restart

  ~~~
  As he lay in bed later that night, Jim stared upward at the ceiling through the darkness.  His mind was still reeling from what Kira had told him earlier that evening.  He could not wrap his head around it.  And he knew that he was not going to be able to change her mind.  Once Kira made a decision about something, that was the end of the conversation.  Now, if he was lucky, Jim had just under a month left with Kira before she pressed restart and she was gone from his life.
  Kira had suggested that Jim press restart, too.  But this was something that Jim had always been opposed to.  He did not understand it.  It seemed so unnatural.  He could not bring himself to even consider doing it.  Now, the one person in the world that he had ever had a connection with—the only person he had ever really cared about—was going to do it.
  Jim didn’t know what to do with himself.  He didn’t know what he could do.  He was helpless, and soon, he would be alone.
