Carrie had spent the night at my house, and I told her almost everything about what happened between Nathan and me. Quite simply, he wouldn’t open up to me. Of course, she thought I should give him a chance and even went as far as to say he was in love with me. I didn’t know about that. I mean, we’d just met and the whole love-at-first-sight thing seemed kind of silly to me. However, if I were to be completely honest with myself, I’d have to say I was the one falling for him, and felt a connection between us I’d never felt with anyone else before. But that didn’t matter anymore because whatever we had between us—magical or not—was over.
