Page 6 of Motionless Crowd

I smiled and for the first time in my whole life my tears fell out of joy and happiness. My dad arrived and took me home to change and he refused to tell me what the surprise was. He swore that only Adam knew what it is and they were just following what he told them to do. I went home and it started to rain. My phone rang; it was Adam’s number.

“Is this Adam’s wife?” Someone asked and it wasn’t Adam so I thought it was part of the surprise.

  “Yes”

“I’m sorry to tell you, but your husband got killed in a car accident just now.”

I was cut from this memory and brought to the present with my dad’s shouting, “YOU JUST NEED TO MOVE ON!”

I pulled my necklace and madly threw it to the ground, breaking it apart. I screamed, “Isn’t that what you want, Dad! Isn’t that what you want?”

I locked myself in my room and I realized that even Adam didn't keep his promise to stay by me when I needed him the most. I was told lies. Here I am sitting alone, surrounded by four walls, wiping away tears of sadness. My long brown hair is no longer long nor brown. I cut and dyed it, hoping to forget what was once said, or in other words, hoping to forget him. Here I am in mid January and I feel cold, but I’m not dying to take Adam's jacket.

I’m just dying to move on!
