tingles with pleasure, as a warm glow flows over your body.

Like a subtle gorgeous perfume, you are drawn closer by desire.

You breathe out slowly, as your nose brushes against the tender flesh.

Feeling it as soft as baby’s skin, and as cool as the breeze.

You anticipate the awesomeness, you are about to experience.

You softly close your eyes, to the distractions of the world.

With total peace at heart, you begin to fill your lungs.

The sweet aroma stimulates your senses, as if it were pure ecstasy.

Holding your breath, you stand and open your eyes, back to reality.

What an awesome world it is when you stop to smell the roses.

  Footnote:

This is the first Prose I ever did. Well the first prose that I can remember. I may have written some prose in my first years of school but I can’t remember.

The thing I love about this poem is how sexual I have made the act of smelling a rose. It’s something that we are all told to do but we very rarely do it. It’s also somewhat as enjoyable as this poem expresses.

The action is in slow motion which I wanted to do. You are stopping to smell the roses along every step in the process of smelling a rose.

I am concentrating on the poetic use on words constructed in a way that is uncommon in comparison to the way we speak. I also used metaphors to express the feeling.

This poem is very strong with expressing the senses in which we usually never get to experience when reading. The feeling of touch. The sense of smell. The sound we hear.

I love how it’s like a day dream experience where you drift off and find you are acting in a way that you normally would never do. A causal walk results in you standing in someone’s front yard holding a rose looking up with the biggest smile and content on your face as if you are on drugs. Then you realise what the hell you are doing.

  From Low to High

  Clouds outside are dim

After the time I was sick

  Too cold for a swim

I just gave the cold the flick

Beating it down with a stick

  Now I feel better

Better than the time of rain

  It made things wetter

The bad headache was a pain

I do not want that again

  Everything is great

Now that I am feeling good

  In a happy state

Should avoid it now I should

Always would I if I could

  Now another day

All of that was in the past

  Let it go I say

  Tomorrow is coming fast

  Hopefully it is a blast

  Footnote:

The Tanka format here is expressing a point where I was feeling crap due to a cold and was on the mend.

I have some accent issues in this poem. The, is a weak accent and Time is a strong accent. In that, you need to change the Rhythm to a triplet start.

  Clouds outside are dim

  V ^ V ^ V

After the time I was sick

  V ^ V ^ V ^ V (Wrong)

  V ^ ^ V ^ ^ V (Right)

  Too cold for a swim

  V ^ V ^ V

I just gave the cold the flick

  V ^ V ^ V ^ V

Beating it down with a stick

  V ^ V ^ V ^ V (Although this works IT is weak)

  V ^ ^ V ^ ^ V (See how it flows better?)

The problem is that people get used to one rhythm but then get confused when they have to change during the poem. It feels clunky. Another example:

  Now I feel better

Better is a strong accent then a weak accent which is odd here.

  Futuristic Dreams

The vision of life I posses.

The vision for my full success.

  The goal of my life,

  of greatness not strife.

Something that I wish you would bless.

A long road I’ve chosen to take.

I chose this for everyone’s sake.

  I do want to be,

  a blessing to thee.

I’m helping with what I create.

I’m watchful to stay on the road.

I’m willing to burden the load.

  I want to help all,

  yes that is my call.

I am in a determined mode.

One thing that I am watchful for.

The dream smashers that close the door.

  They try to tell me,

  that I am too weak.

But they can’t hurt me anymore.

  Footnote:

This is one of my earlier poems. As you can see, another limerick format.

The thing about this is the interesting rhyme. I have concentrated on meaning more than rhyme here.

All success starts with vision. And that vision has to be positive and great in that area. Even something small, the vision is still great for the scale of that small thing. And most of the time, you can’t do it on your own. You need support and assistance at some stage.

Most dreams are a long path, and are usually based some way, in helping out others. This makes the dream so much more important since it’s not just the individual who needs the dream to be manifested. Even gold medallists want to be an inspiration to people. Notice also the different rhyme here still works due to the vowel rhyming, ake and ate. The ay sound.

Dreams usually take extreme dedication where you will pursue it whole heartedly with excellence; a thick skin to handle the rejection and negative discouragement; a passion so that you don’t hate it, but instead love it and handle the negative aspects of the journey; special secret knowledge; and tonnes of hard work. If you’re meant to do it, these things will seem easier.

Now everyone who has a dream knows these people. Don’t be hard on them because sometimes they may be doing it to help you and since they are designed for other things, they may not see your vision. You do get some that are just out to bring people down though. I again rhyme differently with me and weak, and finish it off with a vow to not let those people stop me from fulfilling my destiny. I’ll only fail if I quit.

  Life in a Day

You can climb over rocks of a coastline.

Straight all the way to the end.

But there’s so much along the way,

You would miss out on my friend.

Climbing and struggling all the way,

To a place you may not want to be.

When you could be enjoying each moment.

When you look around and see.

The first step can lead to a rock,

And from there you see the sight.

  The awesome little detour,

That leads to a spot that is bright.

From there you see much more,

And you travel like that all the day.

You make to the end of the coastline,

And have an awesome life on the way.

  Footnote:

A ballad which is one of my favourites. This is about living in the now.

The thing about this poem is that the entire subject is written as a metaphor. I take a walk along the beach and use that to explain an attitude to life. See most people only see what they want up the end and they miss the joy of each step towards the goal. It’s what you focus on that matters. If you only ever focus on stuff you don’t have, then you never get to experience what you already have.

The coastline is our life with smooth bits and then some jiggered hard parts. And if you only head for the other side, then there are lots of opportunities missed along the way. You need to go where you are lead and be open minded and flexible enough to take small detours to a place of tremendous value to you.

Some people want to be rich and famous but they may miss out on what they are really meant to experience. Like a loving awesome family. Sometimes the goal ends up more important than why
you are going for that goal. So it comes down to what really matters to you in this present time, right now, and being open–minded enough to follow that path.

Each step, re–evaluate your situation of the now. Look around and see what options you have. Don’t miss out on knowing your options since options increase your power in what choices you have. Without choices, you are just a drone, remote controlled by your circumstances.

Stepping into an opportunity that springs up unexpectedly, can open so many doors, and enjoying each of those can lead you to the goal, maybe in a way you never expected, but it’s worth it.

  My Value and Worth

My future is where I see good I can do

when greatness is strong within me

I know I’ll achieve the great things that I do

I will be the best I can be.

I have many people who care about me

Though they never say it that clear

They want me to have all the joy I can have

and comfort me shedding a tear

I’m treasured and valuable all round the world

I can do so much for them all

But even a smile to someone out there

can stop them from feeling so small.

If ever I need some help from my friends

I know some will help me that day

They care for me more than I will ever know

and I’m thankful to have it that way.

  Footnote:

I tend to love this topic of a vision of the future. It’s not a for everybody though since they may feel that this sets you up for disappointment and failure. The thing is, you can’t base your dreams on fantasy. You need to know you are built for it, and that it’s possible by the examples of other people fulfilling their dreams in a similar way, and you can’t base your definition of success upon what other people choose.

For instance, successful job hunting is not when you get a job. It’s when you write a great resume and present yourself in the best way you can. Your job is to be the best job hunter you can be regardless of weather or not people even look at you. This way, you are succeeding to the best of your ability in the area in which you have control. Eventually, an employer will see how great you are at being the best job hunter you can be and will want you to work for them. There is always a slim chance that out of 2,000,000 job applications, you may not get
