Chapter Eight

Nine ran as fast as he could. He ran out of breath, he ran out of energy, and soon, everything around him started to go dark. He found himself back at the concert AfterTomorrowLand. Digweed was still spinning the killer beats. Nine spotted most of Russian soldiers were on the ground, probably having the same experience Nine just had. Luckily the earplugs have paused the experience just in time before his heart could explode.

Natalie, Six, Nine and Digweed, left the set running and flew back to the organization headquarters. The sound flew across enemy land killing most of the enemy. Russia gave up and requested for Americans to get their filthy music back. They won the most annoying war. Yes, America won the war. Digweed was proclaimed the best disk jockey of all time.

"The next time you see me, it will be in a mental institution." he told Nine.

"Great... I won't visit." Nine replied honestly and shook Digweed's hand.

Once the set was over, Six flew back to get the super mix from AfterTomorrowLand and burned it. No one would ever experience this brutal and excruciating sound ever again. All though Nine was tremendously in love with it.

Later that week Nine flew to every Krewe's concert and hoped to hear that sound again. Hoping to go back to that memory of himself with a lovely girl at the beach. He wanted her all to himself. Selfishly, he never got over her, and respectfully, he never dared to talk to her about their history. He kept his distance as he knew he should.

The next top missions were, once again, awarded to Natalie. Nine ended up as the background agent, always cleaning up after the crew. He didn't mind though. He started to enjoy a bit of freedom that was awarded to him. All the extra hours gave him time to write poetry and theatre plays. One of which he published and a theatre company was interested in producing.

Nine went on to become a part time secret intergalactic agent and a part time theatre director. He earned very little at his artistic job, but his creativity was very unique. He auditioned musicians once in a while as well, requesting them to play the strangest chords. One of these musicians, who happened to be an aspiring vocalist, sang him the most loving song Nine ever heard. He hired the girl, but was disappointed it didn't trigger that memory he longed for.

The girl wrote many songs for Nine. She ended up having a thing for the charming, dashing, handsome gentleman. After the show she'd ask Nine out for coffee, but Nine had missions to complete and was too busy to ever get back to her. He also missed all the obvious signals the girl was giving him. She even made a mix cd and left it in his dressing room for him to play. He enjoyed her house beats and played them every time he had to clean his house.

Obsessively, Nine wanted to experience time travel so badly that he decided to listen to some underground music. Independent music posted on sound clouds and so on. Finally, he found a melody that triggered one of his memories, but it wasn't the greatest one. It was the most embarrassing memory of his life. He stopped listening to music for a while after that.

In the middle of winter, during one of Nine's brand new plays, Krewe visited his theatre. They said they were interested in doing a private show. Nine was very happy and honored to let them perform a small show in his theatre.

"How did you guys produce those killer beats?" Nine asked them.

"Well... it was accidental." the blue haired girl replied.

"We were watching some rated R movie and produced the beats at the same time. Little did we know how influential a melody would feel. We started feeling like we traveled back in time. It was the most incredible feeling we've ever felt." the pink haired girl explained.

"I know." Nine told her. "I've been trying to get that feeling back ever since."

"You shouldn't." the blue haired girl warned Nine and shook her head. "The first time is always the best time and should be the only time. Listening to that sound again will only get you addicted to it. It will not feel the same ever again."

  "Oh, I understand." Nine sighed.

"What memory did you experience?" the blue haired girl asked. "You know, there are plenty of other companies out there that can help you feel your memories again."

"I think it's a bad idea anyway." Nine frowned. "I think if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. Little things should forever be treasured and stay as little as possible in order for them to stay special. Treasure your moments dearly, love immensely and keep your secrets secret."
