“I noticed your presence is getting stronger. I am starting to smell
it,”Kago said; while attempting not to look jealous.
“Yes, I am aware of that. I consumed 6 souls just yesterday.”
“Damn, sometimes even idiots get lucky.”
***
Back at the lab, Sasgo and Sora just reached the top of the stairs.
"What room do you want?” Sasgo asked, as he pulled out a pack of cigars.
The two arrived at a room on the very end of the second floor. The
room was very spacious; at the corner of the large room; there was
small bed next to the window. Sora walked around the room, analyzing
everything. Sora pointed to a bookshelf; in a corner across from the
small bed. “Hondana”
"Yes, good job indeed, that is the word for bookshelf. Tonight I will
read you a book from that very shelf.” Dr. Takinago said, almost
looking relived; that he did not have to go to another room.
Dr.Takinago took a drag on his cigar; and reached for a book on the
Hondana. The book looked old and raggedy. It had to be over a thousand
years old. “My father read this to me, just before...”
“Just before..? Please finish your sentence. I am listening”
Dr. Takinago cleared his throat. “Sora I must tell you another time. I
cannot tell you this now.”
"Why not, why is it so vital to wait till later?”
"Excuse me, just wait right there for me.”
Dr. Takinago left the room; with the book in his hand and the cigar in the other. Dr. Takinago
almost forgot what happened to those who read the book. Dr. Takinago
rushed down the stairs into the long hallway.
"Yuma, I need you to come here right now!”
Yuma was in front of him within the next microsecond.
"Sir, do you need something?”
"Yuma, That sound-proof tube please.”
Yuma produced a metal tube from her storage department.
“The book belonged to the Black cat; it was stolen from her by my father.”
“What is your point?”
“The book was The Black Cats diary. I think she enchanted the diary so
that whoever reads it; becomes a demon of the Black Cat council.”
“I do know that she has a council of demons, but I have no data
concerning the book.”
“I must read it to him, the DreamWorld needs him after I read it; I
will make sure he reaches the Whispering Pines. I will need you to
train him. When I become a demon you must kill me.”
“I cannot kill you sir.”
“Yes you will that is an order, do I make myself clear?”Dr. Takinago
raised his voice.
“Sir, please don’t read, the book. I…”
“What Yuma, say what is on your mind, because this could be the very
last time we speak!”
“Sasgo, I love you.”
“I know, I love you too, I programmed the ability to love in you. I
take full responsibility for that. I am sorry Yuma”
“You idiot, how am I suppose to kill you with my emotions intact?”
“Listen to me damn it! The Black Cat and her council will stop at
nothing to destroy the DreamWorld, once they destroy the DreamWorld
they will then kill out the physical universe. The Black Cat council's
mission is to bring pain to humans of all walks of life, until they give
into the dark. If you do not kill me you might as well join the
council.”
“I understand now.”
Dr. Takinago released his ear from the tube and ran back upstairs. He
knew what he had to do; he took a long puff from his cigar and opened
the door.
"Where did you go?”
“There will be no questions Sora and after this story; you are to go
straight to bed. Is that understood?”
“Yes father.”
“Good, I am glad we understand each other.”
Dr. Takinago grabbed his reading glasses in his left pocket.
After Dr. Takinago took a few puffs of his cigar, almost as if he was
saying a prayer he closed his eyes. When Dr. Takinago opened them he
though in his mind, wow I created a real piece of art, he will do
great in the DreamWorld.
Dr. Takenago put his cigar out in a ash tray that was placed on the window seal. He
cleared his throat and opened the book; he began to read the first
paragraph to himself. Those who take or steal this book I will not be
at greivance with you; in fact I am quite proud of you and for this reason, I
will give you a fair warning. This book is enlaced with some of the
best enchantments known throughout DreamWorld and even the Physical
universe, unlike a Dreamworld item, this item can be taken to any
realm. With all of this being said in this book if you agree to read
it; you will become my demon and be one of my council.
Dr. Takinago looked at Sora, then down at the book.
He began to read out loud:
Chapter Four : The Black Cat journal
Journal entry number one :
I hid my locket so that nobody can find it, as for you my dear diary,
you will stay by my side at all times. The locket can only teleport me
to other realms, but your power is much too precious to let go. I need
you to build my army of demons. I do want to tell you of my adventures
today diary. Today I stumbled across a land called Whispering Pines,
stupid animals were all over the place. I even punched a satyr in the
face, because he gave me a look. I hate looks. The dumbass actually
told me that I was unwelcome in Whispering Pines. This really pissed me off.
Who does not know that I am the rightful heir to DreamWorld?I sent
Elgon and Reda to kill him, two of my best demons. This is what
horrifies me they could not enter Whispering pines. That Damn Satyr
enchanted the entrance to where my magic is powerless, who does he
think he is disarming me? Well if I find that damn satyr,he better be
dead. Whispering Pines should be mine. I will not sit back and watch
gnomes and satyrs and Dryads rule my territory. This is all just
unheard of. If my father was alive today, then of course they could
roam free and call the damn land Shouting Pines, but not under my reign. On the note of my
father I must thank you once again diary, it was you who created the
demon who killed him.
“So she killed her very own father?”
“Sora, you must understand, the Black Cat has little to no feelings at all.”
“Is that all that is written in the journal?”
“No, but it does seem to be the only, diary my thought on this is that
she removed some of the pages.”
“Why would she do that?”
“Well, the Journal gives her power to turn souls into demons.”
“It never says how?”
There was a long moment of silence. The rain was dying down. “No
father, I just met you I am not ready to lose you yet.”
“Listen to me, right now I am not going to stand for this nonsense.”
“But..”
“There will be no buts. I got until 3:30 am in the morning, that is
the time of the awaking for evil spirits, I have already told Yuma
about this deal. Yuma will train you, The dreamWorld needs you
Whispering Pines needs you.”
Sora looked out into the rain,
“What is the rest of the journal about.”
“No, I cannot show you. You need to just trust me, please.”
“Why the hell should I trust you, You created me just to abandon me!”
“I am helping you, The dreamworld needs you please Sora don't act this way.”
“Well What if I need you?” Sora started to raise his voice.
“I am sorry Sora, but you are in very good hands with Yuma.”
“I think I understand, I must learn the ways of combat and free the
DreamWorld of the evil Black Cat.”
“You are very smart.”
“I will defeat the Black Cat, even if I die trying to save this
DreamWorld you are talking about. I am willing to die, because the
only reason I am alive is because of you. I realize this is very vital
to you, because you are giving up your life. I do realize I owe you my
soul because you are the one who created me and for that reason; I am
willingly sacrificing myself, but as soon as I see the Black Cat. I
have one thing to say and that is zettai, makemassen * yo.”
Translation: I most certainly will not lose.
Chapter Five: Yuma's Quest
Dr. Takenago looked down at Sora, who was in sleep mode; he then
picked up his ash tray and put the book back on the shelf. Is that
safe to keep it on the shelf? Well where can I take it? I am about to
die.
Dr. Takenago walked to the light switch; he felt a jerk in his stomach
and then checked his watch it read: 3 A.M. He knew he had to make sure
that Sora made it to Whispering Pines. He fliped the switch down then
shut the door behind him. He bolted down the stairs and jumped the
last step. Yuma rolled from the kitchen to the long hallway.
“Follow me, I got to make sure he gets to DreamWorld. If he lands in
the Azure The Black Cats demons will capture him.”
Without another word the two rushed to the experiment section.
“Computer on, Sora control system.”
The computer flashed on like the speed of light; and pulled up a page.
At the top left hand corner of the page was a video file.
“Is that what we look like when we dream?” Yuma asked.
“Yes, and I must say that it is much more graceful than watching a human sleep.”
In the center of the page was a video of Sora sleeping; he laid there motionless. Dr. Takinago then realized just how beautiful his creation is. Sora's green eyes were wide open and his electric blue crown was glowing. “I really never have seen anything like him. Damn, I am going to miss him.”
“I will raise him well. I will not leave DreamWorld without him; andhe will be victorious.”
“I trust you; damn if you let me down I can't do anything about it.”
“I swear to all that it is worth, Sora will survive and DreamWorld will be at peace.”
The computer beeped.
“He is in Whispering Pines, for the time being Kerion will take care of him I have already made arangements.”
Dr. Takinago looked down at his watch then at Yuma. “I love you, I
know this will be hard, but it has to be this way. I am not scared
anymore. My father did this for me; I got to be strong and do it for
you and Sora. Yuma you got to be strong and do it for me, for my honor
to show me that my sketches and creations are really worth something.
I need you to do this for me, please kill me.”
Dr. Takinago looked into the eyes of his first creation, she looked
just like a human, but much more graceful and not the look of evil
selfish beauty; her eyes looked like those of a godess told in
childrens tales throughout the world. The blue in her eyes seemed so
real and then a leak of the water from the most beautiful ocean
fell. As a tear rolled down her silicone face she stuttered out,
“I...I love you till the end Takinago.”
Yuma raised her hand in the air and mist leaked from her palm, smells
of gas stretched throughout the experiment section, The mist cleared
and Yuma lowered her hand. Yuma walked over to Dr. Takinago , he was
laying on his back, his muscles relaxed.
Water started to fall from the roof.
“Why didn't you kill me?”
“I can't stand to see you in pain, You will not feel anything. My
magic is electrical, so I had to numb you. I now realize I must accept
this task, but I do not have to cause pain, you will have a peaceful
death.”
Yuma raised her arm above her head once more and a metal rod appeared
in hand; as she set the rod down it began to grow. A platform of earth
rose up and she was now looking down at Dr.Takinago; his body was now
getting wet; his clothes were drenched, she looked down at his lab
coat, that he never took off; as it floated off of him and swirled
around the room. Yuma for the first time got a good look at Dr.
Takinago's eyes. Yuma zoomed in and locked them as a target; his eyes
were changing from a human mischievous blue, to a gentle calming red.
Are those demon eyes, they look like they contain pixels, he can't be
a robot he is human. All of the human eyes I have ever seen though are
a solid color. Yuma knew she was in a race for time and if the demon came
out, her quest to ensure that he had a peaceful death would be
destroyed. She took one last glance at Dr. Takinago, and then began to
sing the most beautiful note of music in the world, the birds of the
sky would be jealous of her. Silent bolts of thunder and lightning
struck upon the water.
After the storm Yuma, restored the room to the way it was before with
a different note. The rift in the floor shrunk back to original size
with a new tile over it. The water evaporated and nothing of Dr.
Takinago remained with the exception of his clothes.
Yuma raised her staff in the air and the staff started to fade; until there was nothing in her hand. She looked around the room; she then walked up to Dr. Takinago's clothes, I want these to stay here forever, so I will never forget that my quest is completed.
