Page 2 of Gone Too Soon

I'll keep you held close

  And I'll keep you warm

  You no longer speak

  Your heart I can't hear

But you're here in my arms

So I know you are near

  Its not quite the same

But its all that I've got

  My darling husband

  Is here in a pot

The cards have all come down

And life it must go on

  But behind my laughter

  And my smiles

The love of my life has gone

The realisation that you're not here

That you've had to go away

My heart crumbles a little more

  Each and every day

  When will this hurt?

  Heartbreaking pain!

When will it start to fade?

Our future together was cut short

Quashed all plans that we made

I face a future on my own

Your hand no more in mine

I wish I could believe myself

When I say that I am fine

  I hear people complain

Of their partners they will moan

But at night I sit here broken

  Endless years to face alone

I wish that 'You' could leave a mess

  Leave socks upon the floor!

  Complain that I have forgotten

To close and lock the door

But I'll never hear your voice again

  Never hear you laugh

Never be within your arms again

  I walk this lonely path

Your arms no more embrace me

My heart is torn in two

One half is still within me

  The other lies with you

  Reminiscing happy times

  So many to recall

  Yet bringing many tears

  Still many more to fall

  Sensation of the storm

  No more pressure

  No more pain

So life it must go on

Til I meet with you again

A part of you is here

  Her pretty eyes asleep

To look at her I'm happy

Though at times I have to weep

  I gaze upon your photo

The very light of my life

So happy for the years we shared

So happy to be your wife

His chair it now sits empty

  His bed no longer made

His clothes hang in our wardrobe

The scent of him won't fade

I can no longer hold him

His arms can't hold me tight

I can't believe I cannot hold his hand!!

  This just isn't right!?

  He was only forty eight!!

  Our baby barely five

  Its just not fair!!!

  Its just so wrong!!

  He should be still alive!!!!!

  My big strong man

  His heart of gold

  Nothing was too much trouble!!

  So loving so romantic

  Why burst our happy bubble?!

What did we do to deserve this??

Why give us so much pain!!??

  I look across...

  The empty space...

  The tears they fall again...

  Mothers are all Angels

Mothers are all Angels; they live here for a while,

to teach us how to walk and talk, and also how to smile.

They guide us on our way through life; they keep us clean and warm,

they patch up all our cuts and scrapes, they guide us clear of harm.

A gentle touch, a tender kiss, a hand brushed through my hair

A warm embrace to help me live my life without a care.

But sometimes life can be unfair, sometimes things turn out bad

And now my life has changed for good, it’s now just me and Dad.

I miss you Mum so very much, I know you tried to stay,

I think about you all the time, every single day.

Dad tells me all about you, he tries to make things right,

I have my favourite picture, I hug it every night.

So now I hold you in my heart, I know you’re always there,

I see your smile, your twinkling eye, I feel your love and care.

I do my best and always try to be good if I can,

And hope your proud and looking on as I become a man.

  More than words can say

I love you more than words can say

Even though you're not here each day,

The days are quiet without you near

Nights are longer with a few tears.

  Waking from cloudy dreams

  Hearing water in swollen streams,

Out of the woods the waters flow

  Forming that elusive vibrant Rainbow.

  Feelings swell our beating hearts

  Emotions tearing it apart,

  Time slowly healing wounds

  Brightening the darkened moons.......

I wish you had never gone away but I understand why you could no longer stay.

I loved you then and I love you still; I always have and I always will.

One day I know our paths will cross, no more feelings of such loss.

Until that day I'll keep on living and everyday, "just keep swimming".

So patience now is what I need, of your words I must take heed.

For on the day I rise above, once more I'll be with my true love.

  First Anniversary

  I can't believe a year has passed

When it still feels like yesterday

The night that you went to sleep

And didn't awake the following day

We all miss you being in our lives

And a day doesn't pass when we wish you were here

We now rely on photos and memories

But I know that you are listening and can hear

When your children say they 'love you daddy'

And send their balloons flying up into the sky

They say you are up there sitting on a cloud

And are watching over them from high

We all love you so very much

You're in our thoughts every day

And as your children grow they will always know

That you'll be proud of them in every way

  ****************

  Second Anniversary

2 years ago on this day

  Our family was torn apart

You were taken from us so suddenly

And left us with broken hearts

You remain in our thoughts each and every day

And our memories of you are rife...

From the day we met and our lives together

And bringing the children into our life

Although we are very much missing you

We carry on as you would want us to do

I hope that you are looking down from above

To receive our messages we send of love

  My heart broke in two

When you had to go away

And we will always miss you

  Each and every day

But life has to go on

  J
ust as you would want it to

  And even though you're gone

  We'll never ever forget you

  Your WAYer

If you can look down from heaven

You’ll see a bunch of friends indeed

About ten women to one man

Of all colours and of all creeds.

They dance like mad at the AGM boogie

They chat and laugh at local meets

At Centerparcs, a sea of blue hoodies

Smiling bravely, black bands on their wrists.

Look out for me, among our crew

I promised I would love you forever

I’m true to my word, I still love you

If I can’t be your wife, I remain YOUR WAYer.

  The widow’s satnav

  Look at the road ahead

  Try not to be afraid.

After one day, do not pull the brake,

  Instead, organise funeral and wake.

After one week, return meds to the chemist

And inform the doctor and the dentist.

Gather his clothes and what can be given

Donate to Red Cross or Save the Children.

  After one month, turn left,

Right, centre, at the Invites roundabout

Take them all, not just the best

Believe me, they’ll soon dry out.

  After 1 year, congratulations

But keep your safety belt on,

Look around, it’s plain to see

The road ahead is still very rocky.

After 3 years, gasping for affection

You may signal a new direction.

If the road ends up undrivable

Turn around as soon as possible.

  After 10, 20, 30 years...

  (Don’t know yet!)

After 40 years, run into Jesus’ arms

They’ve been waiting, nice and warm

After all these trials and tribulations

You have reached your final destination.

  The other WAY

  On this earth all together

  We are Widowed and Young

  We do support each other

  And keep each other strong.

But up there in the sky

  There is another WAY

Where our girls and our guys

Look on us night and day.

  Those who left so quickly

  Without a final kiss

  Now love us endlessly

  In their eternal bliss.

  Those who were so ill

And lost the fight to death

  Now and forever will

  Enjoy the best of health.

And when I paint my nails

The smells wafts up to heaven

And Mick, who hates it, wails

  "Wor lass's at it agyen!"

WAY on earth, GTS in heaven

On this side we are WAY

  But there, beyond the tomb

They've got their group and they

  Call themselves Gone Too Soon.

  They've got a wide-screen TV

To which they stick like glue

  On Channel Earth they see

  What we're getting up to.

They see us in their sheds

  Using their saws and drills

  Assembling tables and beds

They're proud of our new skills.

When we too want to die

  They whisper in our ear

While we shout at God "WHY!!!???"

  They say "Darling, I'm here."

They see it all and tell their friends

  "My baby's growing bigger!"

  "Mine's off to Centerparcs again"

  "And mine's going to Hurghada!"

They watch us at tenpin bowling

"Mine's good at that kind of thing."

  They watch A-levels results days

"My son's got 3 Bs and 2 As!"

  Sometimes, it's bound to happen

Life goes on, love takes its course

Two people laugh up in heaven

"Hey look, mine's shacked up with yours!"
