Once upon a time there was a family of four bears that lived in the woods. There was a momma Bear, a papa Bear and two bear cubs. Momma Bear was short and chubby and liked to keep her house neat and clean. Papa Bear was a grumpy bear who hated to go to work everyday. Sally Bear was a baby cub that was spoiled ---she demanded her grub be given to her on time. Jimmy Bear was the other baby cub who was playful and funny, and liked to play jokes on his sister.

Papa Bear had a demanding job. He was a superhero that was known to all the critters in the forest as Captain Honey Bear. He rescued several small critters from day to day from villains of the woods. He was a grumpy bear and hated his job, but knew that he had to perform it to the best of his ability.

Captain Honey Bear received his magical powers one day when he stole honey from a large bee’s nest. When he was caught by the forest cop, Sherriff Beeswax ---he was ordered to serve a life sentence as the woodland superhero. Sherriff Beeswax was a bumbling bee who owned the honey stash. He knew his honey performed magical powers ---because he was once the superhero, until age caught up with him.

Every night in the forest a crime was committed, and it was Captain Honey Bear to the rescue. A large buzzing alarm was sounded by the Sherriff to let him know that it was time to go to work. Momma Bear hated to see her Papa Bear go to fight villains, but was very proud of him. He dressed up in a black cape with a large bumble bee on the back of the cape. His hair was so long and furry that a mask wasn’t necessary because no one could tell it was him.

Jimmy Bear and Sally Bear didn’t know that their father was the forest superhero, for they were young and Papa Bear thought it was best to keep it from them. He didn’t want them to know that he was caught stealing the honey that they had showed him. He knew that they would feel bad about him having to serve a sentence for stealing the honey.

One day a year ago Jimmy Bear and Sally Bear were out chasing a bee in the woods. The bee landed on a bee hive. The bee hive was large and looked like it had a lot of honey stored inside. Jimmy Bear went back to his little house in the forest and told his father. Papa Bear followed Jimmy Bear back to the bee hive. Papa Bear told Jimmy Bear to take his sister back to the house, for it was Saturday and their mother was preparing a feast for all their family and friends.

Papa Bear stuck his hairy paws into the hive and tried to steal the bee’s nest. Suddenly a large bumble bee appeared out of no where.

“Who are you and why are you trying to steal my honey?” Sherriff Beeswax asked.

Papa Bear was surprised to see such a large bee that he was at a loss of words.

  “I uh”

“Do you have a good excuse for trying to rob me?”

“No, sir, I’m sorry I was trying to get some honey for my family,” Papa Bear replied.

“My name is Sheriff Beeswax and since you have no excuse for what you have done ---I charge you to serve twenty years as a crime fighter. I will give you a magical cape and it will give you powers to fight off villains and criminals.” The sheriff went on to explain that he was ordered years ago to serve as the superhero of the forest, but now he was getting older and he could no longer serve his position. He would remain as the sheriff ---but Papa Bear would have to serve as Captain Honey Bear and defend the innocent for twenty years.

Papa Bear hated his new job, but tried to perform his duties the best way he knew how. He groaned and complained every time he had to put on his cape and rescue some damsel in distress. One time he actually had fun because he rescued Chuck the Chipmunk from Wiley the Wolf. Wiley had hung Chuck on a flagpole and painted his fur green. He was trying to get back at him for liking his girlfriend, Foxy the Fox. All the men in the forest liked Foxy because she was pretty and she would wink at all the male critters in the woods. Captain Honey bear thought it was funny that Chuck was green ---he glowed for weeks after his rescue.

Papa Bear preferred to stay home with his family, even though he had to punish his children for being bad on several occasions. One time Sally Bear poured honey in Jimmy Bear’s shoes. Jimmy Bear got back at his sister by pushing Sally Bear into a mud hole while they were playing. Their mother had told them not to get dirty because it was Sunday ---they were going to church that morning. Papa Bear thought it was funny what his kids did, but knew he had to set a good example and teach his kids right from wrong.

On the eve of his son’s birthday the buzzing alarm sounded. It was time to go to work ---Papa Bear hated to leave Jimmy Bear’s birthday party.

“Uh, do I have to Momma Bear?” Papa Bear grumbled as he took a bite of cake.

“You know you do, so you might as well get to it,” Momma Bear replied.

“I guess your right. Save me some cake, and don’t eat up all the grub while I’m gone.” Papa Bear crawled upstairs to get on his cape. He didn’t try to hurry for he detested his responsibility. After he put his cape on, his powers came back to him and he flew out the window.

Captain Honey Bear searched long and hard until he heard someone crying. He flew closer until he saw a little squirrel crying.

  “What’s the matter little squirrel?”

“My name is Goldie Locks and someone has stolen food from my nest.” “Where is your nest, and did you see the culprit?” Captain Honey Bear asked.

“No, but I seen a short fat weasel roaming around my tree house last night. When I went to sleep, I was awakened to see that all my grub was missing. My nest is up there in the tree,” Goldie Locks said as she pointed into the tree.

“This isn’t a job for me. This is a job for the local sheriff. Call him and he will help you. I have to get back to some more important business,” the bear grunted. Goldie Locks was surprised that a superhero was so mean and grumpy.

“I can’t believe he wouldn’t help me. Super heroes are suppose to help people instead of grunt and growl,” she replied.

Captain Honey Bear flew home in just the right time to see Jimmy Bear opening his presents. The party lasted for about an hour and then it was time for bed. The bear family tucked themselves into their cozy little beds and fell fast asleep.

The next day Papa Bear took his family to the tree mall to shop for clothes and a new hat for Mama Bear. The tree mall was inside a large redwood tree. Each store was on a different level and it extended far into the sky. Many forest critters owned stores there.

“Hello, may I help you?” Mr. Peter Rabbit said.

“We are looking for a hat for my lovely mama Bear,” Papa Bear announced. “I have just the right hat for her. Isn’t this perfect? It’s just the right color.” “Yes it does look perfect on my sweetheart. Thank you for your help,” Papa Bear said as he waved goodbye. They decided to go get something to eat. The bear family went up the tree to the sandwich shop.

“Look Mama they have Honey Chicken sandwiches. Doesn’t that look good?” he asked.

“That looks scrumptious. Let’s get one,” Mama Bear replied.

Jimmy Bear and Sally Bear went to find a chair to sit in. Mama Bear helped Papa Bear carry the food back to the table. As they sat down and started eating their food, Papa Bear heard Denver the deer gossiping with Joe the Turkey.

“I can’t believe someone has kidnapped Goldie Locks. Does anyone have any ideas who could have taken her?” Denver asked.

“No, but she was saying the night before that someone has stolen her grub from her nest, but Capta
in Honey Bear refused to help her. Now she’s missing,” Joe replied.

Papa Bear felt remorseful for refusing to help Goldie Locks when she needed him.

“Excuse me Turkey, how do you know she is missing?” Papa Bear asked. “The name is Joe not Turkey. Goldie Locks sister, Suzie Cue found a ransom note demanding twenty berries, twelve nuts, and a handful of worms.” “Why don’t someone just pay the thief and so she can be released?” Papa Bear asked.

“That would be nice, but no one can find him. He has not tried to contact anyone,” Joe replied.

“Does the sheriff know?” Papa Bear asked.

“No, he is on vacation and can’t be reached at this time,” Joe responded.

Papa Bear knew it was up to him to arrest the criminal and rescue Goldie Locks. He took his family back to their home in the woods and put on his magical cape. Suddenly he was flying through the air looking for any sign of Goldie Locks or the thief. Finally a bird flew up close to him.

“Captain Honey Bear I’m glad I found you. I know who took Goldie Locks. I seen him sneak into her nest last night and grab her. He is the badger that roams around at night!” Teresa exclaimed.

“Can you show me?” Captain Honey Bear asked.

  “Yes, follow me.”

Captain Honey Bear followed Teresa till she landed on top of a cave.

“He’s down there. This is where I stop. Good Luck,” Teresa said as she flew away.

Captain Honey Bear flew down to the entrance of the cave and crept inside. He didn’t know what to expect and was a little scared of what might happen. Suddenly he heard a noise. He crawled closer to the sound and saw Goldie Locks tied to a rock.

“I’m here to save you Goldie Locks. Where is your captor?” he asked. “You. What are you doing here? I don’t want you to rescue me. Now leave,” Goldie said. “The sheriff is gone and I am all you have,” Captain Honey Bear replied.

Goldie Locks looks around the cave to make sure the badger was no where in sight.

“I am fine, now please leave,” Goldie Locks said.

“Why would you want to stay?”

“I think the badger is cute and he has been very nice to me,” she said.

“So you have fallen for the badger. What happens if he decides to keep you captive? What will you do then?”

“He likes me too. He told me so,” Goldie replied.

“I can’t just leave you tied up. What if he hurts you, then where would you be? I have to arrest the badger and put him behind bars,” Captain Honey Bear replied.

“Please don’t take him to jail. I love him,” Goldie pleaded.

Captain Honey Bear heard a noise behind him. It was Benny the Badger and he was crying.

“You love me Goldie. You really love me.”

“Yes, you have been so nice to me and no one has ever treated me that way before. They think I’m a nuisance. Will you be my boyfriend?” Goldie Locks ask. “I would be happy to be your boyfriend. I’m sorry I kidnapped you. I was just hungry and didn’t have any money to pay for food. It is getting harder to find food in the forest with all the new food stores at the mall. Everyone is taking the grub and leaving me with none,” Benny replied.

“You’re forgiven now give me a hug,” Goldie replied as she smiled at the Badger.

“You two have to be kidding me. So I have wasted yet another day to rescue you, and you refuse to be rescued. All right Benny I will let you go, but you have to promise never to take anyone captive again,” Captain Honey Bear said.

“I promise,” Benny replied as he untied Goldie Locks and gave her a hug. Captain Honey Bear rolled his eyes as he flew back home to be with his wife and kids.

The next day, Goldie Locks and Benny were married in a small chapel on the top of the Redwood Mall. Critters from all over the forest attended the wedding including Papa Bear and his family. The view was amazing from the top of the Redwood tree. One could see for miles across the entire forest. Mama Bear convinced Papa Bear to dance with her, even though she knew he would step on her feet. She tried to smile and act as if he didn’t while everyone had a great time at the wedding, including Papa Bear.
