Page 2 of Kyralie (part 1)

herself out, he walked her to the bed. He may not be an adult, but Jimmy already seemed much older than his five years within the short time he met Kyralie. Slowly walking to out of the room, he closed the door gently behind him and headed for the masters room. What no one else saw, was that as he walked, he grew taller, more defined, and truly different. He turned into… Jonathan. And from there Jonathan shifted into two people. He became teenage twins, about 19.

“Hey, Chand,” said the one with white hair dressed all in black. Chand, the one being spoken to had black hair and was dressed completely in white. In response all he did was glance at his ‘brother’ and start walking.

“Arun, you saw the new woman, didn’t you? Her name is Kyralie. Kyralie Lance. It’s been a while since there’s been woman here. Much less a Lance woman.”

“Ha-ha duh, that’s why we hafta go see her. Right now. Would it be rude if we woke her up?” Chand asked with a grin and a wink.

“Probably, but since I know you’re going to do it anyways, I’ll just follow you.” Followed by a hefty sigh Arun, walked after his brother who was practically running down the hall.

As the two drew closer to the room, Kyra tossed and turned. As though there was an instinct telling her to wake up.

“Hey! Hey! Ms Kyra! Wake up! It be playtime!” Something was shaking her from above. Wait... no one is shaking me she thought, someone is on top of me! Sitting up quickly she felt the unseen force fall and looked down. It was the dog. I wonder why I heard that voice…

“No, no, no! You no imagine it! I am man’s best friend, you may be woman, but you still human. Right?” Rufus stared up at her as though he really was talking to her. Just not possible, I must be too tired; Kyra rubbed her eyes, and looked down at him.

“Oh! The thing is coming! I smell it!! It smell funny… I shut up for it. Shh me speak is secret!” At the very moment Chand and Arun walked into the room.

“Aww,” Chand moaned, “you’re awake, I was gonna-”

“Good thing too, who knows what he would have done,” Arun interrupted.

“Haha, uh…. Okay?” Kyra laughed nervously. She didn’t quite know what to make of the ‘twins’, but she was still shaken up about the dog.

“Well, we just wanted to meet you,” Arun stated, “we’ll be going now.” He started dragging Chand away from Kyra and toward the door. All she did was stare. With a breath of relief, Kyralie watched as Chand an Arun left the room. Rufus however, had other ideas. The minute the door closed behind the boys, he leapt up and exclaimed, “See? See? I told you! They evil!” Kyra, unable to help herself, began to giggle.

“You’re insane! Those boys were just weird! Here I am calling you insane, I’m the one talking to a dog!” the whole while she said that, she was speaking through a fit of giggles, and as her friend Alex, back home would have said, she was geekin’ pretty bad. Maybe its just a lack of sleep, she thought while trying to catch her breath. The dog, was getting annoyed at her behavior and walked out of the room saying, “I leave now. Maybe tomorrow I prove it to you”. Smiling, she waved loopily at him and collapsed on her bed. It seemed that as soon as her head it the pillow, she was exhausted. Turning on her side and pulling the covers on herself, she fell into an extremely deep, fitting sleep. Entering her dreams, she saw inexplicable images of the people in the mansion. Jonathan to Jimmy, Jimmy to Nikolias, the ones she’d met so far, all morphing into one another. Her dream, being just a dream was stored in her subconscious, to be remembered another time.

In the morning when she awoke, she let out a huge yawn accompanied by a stretch towards the heavens. Once her hands got up as high as she was able to stretch above her head, she inspected her fingers, and let her thoughts wander. When she had woken up enough to function, she lazily climbed out of bed and looked around. Upon seeing her room so thoroughly, she realized there was no closet, not even a bathroom. She flitted to her door, and peeked out, right, left, and right again. No one was coming down the hall. Quickly she left her new room, she began opening doors.

“Okay, a sitting room… not a bathroom. I have a movie room? No, that’s not it either. Finally! A bathroom,” right as she reached the bathroom door, she noticed a door next to it, and let curiosity prevail despite her desperate need to use the toilet and get out of her traveling clothes. Inching toward the door, she slowly nudged it open. Peeking inside the room, her eyes widened. This wasn’t a normal closet. It was filled with clothes from almost every era, from every culture it seemed. Carefully walking into the room, she began looking at the clothes. Gasping, she said in awe, “It’s all my size!” Circling the huge closet she inspected everything, and slowly realized there were no clothes past the 1940’s. “They must be in another closet,” she spoke carefully, although a feeling going through her told her otherwise. Backing out of the room sensing a sudden hostility from the clothes she quickly shut the door and turned toward the bathroom door.

Staring into shock at the bathroom she slowed. Never before had she been able to have such a big space. The bathroom was easily bigger than her old room back at the residential home she lived in before arriving here. Stepping all the way into the room, Kyra proceeded to find out how everything worked.

Peeking outside the door as soon as she was done, she quickly raced into the closet holding her towel tight against her body. Staring at the clothes, entranced yet again, Kyra’s body moved almost against her will towards the long dresses of the 1800’s. Picking up a pale pink dress, she just knew that it was from 1811. How did I know that?, she questioned herself. Ignoring the question to herself, she donned the dress careful to avoid her wet hair. Smiling at how the dress fit so well, she practically skipped out of the room.

“Jon- Jonathan?” Kyra stammered as she ran into him. “What are you doing here?”

“Well I assumed you would be dressed coming out of the closet so I was waiting” His gentle smile turned into a smirk as he gestured toward a small timid girl behind him. “This will be your personal maid. Her job will be to cater your every need. Don’t get too attached, okay?” with that said he turned on his heel leaving the tiny blonde haired girl behind.

Kyra, always ready to be the friendly host immediately smiled at the new girl that arrived and held out her hand. Staring at the hand Kyra held out she slowly raised her eyes a bit upward and said shyly, “Miss Kyralie? My name is Evelyn. What would you like me to do?”

“Uh, be my friend? I’m sorry, but I haven’t seen any females here, and I’d love to have someone to talk to.” Caught off guard by her, she quickly added, “Oh, and you can call me Kyra. Do you have a nickname?”

“M-my family used to call me Eve”

“Okay, then I’ll call you that,” Kyralie said with a broad smile. Happy that she had a companion, Kyra grabbed eve’s wrist and pulled her towards her room.

“So, how long have you wanted to work here Eve?” Kyra asked the still trembling woman. Eve, looking unsure, wrung her hands and shook her head jerkily back and forth in what could only mean ‘no’.

“Well, sure… I guess. Just know that whenever you want to talk, I’ll be here, okay?”A look of astonishment came across the young girl’s face, and admiration quickly followed. Nodding, she spoke quickly, “Yes’m. Thank you so much!” Just that small amount of appreciation made Kyralie’s heart swell with happiness. With

that much said and done, she grabbed Eve’s hand and proceeded to drag her to the bedroom to talk while drying her hair.

As they were walking down to the dining room for breakfast, Nikolias appeared alongside them almost as though air had formed his body. The surprise of his sudden appearance caused Kyra to trip, catching herself at the last minute; out of the corner of her eyes she saw Nikolias and Eve both move to catch her. “I’m fine, you don’t need to protect me every second. Actually, I have a question before we get breakfast.” The two accompanying her flashed a worried look at each other and glanced back at Kyra’s face expectantly to hea the words about to come from
her mouth. “well, I was hired as a housekeeper. But from what I can see… you’re not treating me at all like one.”Nikolias stared at her and questioned gently, “I can tell you have some questions, what would you like to know?”

“Start from the beginning of whatever made you call the gency to bring me here.”

“Very well then…” with a sigh, he proceeded to speak as she and Eve listened, both captivated as he started his sordid tale of grief, love, and mystery.

“It started when I was only 18, I had just come home from my very first trip abroad, and I saw you. Well, a past you. You had just stepped out of the carriage outside of the station to greet a man. Not even processing the fact I had never spoken to you, I was jealous of the man instantly until I heard the word ‘brother’ come out of your lips. Your name was Kylynn then, and I it was as though my body had floated on tis own when I went to speak to you. Although I was from an average family, and you from a grand one, I wanted to know you- no I needed to know you. As time had it, that simple ‘hello’ I extended soon turned to passionate love.
