Chapter Twenty
1
Ashley Dolton was spending her evening outside playing. Her long brown curly hair was blowing with the breeze. She had her chalks and was playing on the sidewalk.
Her mom was inside watching television. She was also texting her new boyfriend. She thought that she didn’t have to worry about her daughter outside playing.
Ashley didn’t know that she was being watched. She only heard a dog barking somewhere close by. The dark robed man and his white shepherd were watching and waiting.
The front door opened and Ashley’s mom had stepped out. She looked to see what her daughter was doing. “It’s time for you to come inside and get ready to take a bath.”
“Okay, mommy,” Ashley said.
Her mom walked back into the house. She started to clean up her mess. She was tired and was ready for a bath.
The dark robed man bent over and whispered into the white shepherd’s ear. The huge shepherd let out an evil growl. Then it charged at Ashley.
Ashley didn’t know what hit her. She fell and hit her head on the sidewalk. The devil dog bit her throat and didn’t let go.

Trevor had spent the day thinking about things. His daughter had been on his mind a lot. Her mom had not called him for awhile.
He figured someone had told her that he had moved in with Terry. Ashley’s mom was always a jealous woman. She didn’t like him with anyone even though they were separated.
Trevor was sitting at the table having diner. Terry had cooked the meal. He liked her cooking. She had always said her grandma had taught her everything.
It was a quiet meal. They both didn’t have anything to say. They weren’t talking as much since Trevor moved in.
Trevor ate fast and didn’t want seconds. He was about done when his cell phone started ringing. He noticed it was his daughter’s mom.
He knew that there was something wrong when he answered. She was crying. She had told him about what happened to Ashley. They didn’t make to her in time and she didn’t make through the dog attack.
They had never found the dog that attacked her. It had to have been a big dog. The dog warden was still looking for the dog in the neighborhood.
Trevor dropped his phone and gone down to his knees. He felt like he was having a heart attack. He couldn’t get back up to his feet.
“Are you alright?” Terry asked.
