Isobel didn't know how long she'd been lying there, just past the hub at the mouth of the north tunnel. All she knew with certainty was that she was hurt. Thick blood had begun to dry over a gash just above her clavicle, and so she reasoned she'd been there a while. It took several painful, futile attempts before she managed to sit up. Finally staggering to her feet, she continued into the murky tunnel for the north district she called home.
Admiral Vin was right; tunnel rats were real.
