Now turn to a dark echo in my mind like a foe

Noises that used to bring joy to my aging heart

I must forever let go and depart

Freshly baked sweetness will never taste the same

Aging has become a very cruel game

Bitter, sweet, sour or bland; it all tastes of time passing

I know now that this feeling will never be forever lasting

Flowers once scented with spring in all its glory

Telling a wonderful and hopeful story

Time will blend smell together into nothing

A blossom will start again and right at the beginning

Fingers too old to feel the gentle caress of satin dresses

Against skin as flawless as love brushes across messes

Too fragile to feel the ache of time taking over

Taking a blanket to hide the cold and to cover

  Six feet under

For all those who stand at my grave and weep

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

To tell me now that you are sorry for all you have done

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

When you bring all the lies to me to revile the truth

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

Do not bother to read messages from the past

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

Do not ask for forgiveness, standing with sorrow at my bed

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

Fear not because I will not haunt your dreams

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

The flowers you put on my grave will not relieve your pain

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

The songs you sing in my honor will not reach me

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

Your life will continue with or without me

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

Be blessed in what you do even if not in my honor

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

Do not beg for mercy and expect to live longer than me

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

Feel free to know that your time will soon come

I cannot hear you, I am six feet under

  Tell me about the darkness

Tell me about the darkness you find when you close your eyes for the last time

Show me what it feels like to leave the world behind

All the wrong that has been done upon me over all these years

Bring me to the understanding about all the hurt and pain

We all have to endure just to be able to call it life.

Bring me to the place where life is no more and I do not have to be pure

Give me the strength to walk those last few steps into my death cave

Let us forsake those who still breathes the air of the corrupt world we used to live in

May my forever after be filled with the darkness I was promised

And shall I bring darkness to those who seek it most.

Feel the pain I felt through my time in the world

Give me the sign to let me know it is all over and I can breathe

Breathe the darkness that is bestowed upon me

Given to me with the love that only I will know

The love that brought this darkness upon me I will forever know.

The darkness, my friend it shall and will always be

For death is where I will find you darkness, you will see

It will consume me and it will become me, forever me

Tell me about the darkness that waits beyond my death.

  The great beyond

Under my feet the grass will be green and full

Beside me will be the ones I love and my enemies will be among them

Above me birds will fly free through the clouds

Around me will be the great beyond

Under my feet the flowers will smell like life

Beside me will be trees growing with all their might

Above me butterflies will carry messages to their masters

Around me will be the great beyond

Under my feet the moss will tell stories of who walked there

Beside me will be open spaces of breezes and peace

Above me the wind and the rain will not fall on me

Around me will be the great beyond

Under my feet the rocks will not cut my feet or my hands

Beside me will be animals to great this newcomer I am

Above me the lightning will crash but will not touch me

Around me will be the great beyond

Under my feet the water of the streams will wash my feet

Beside me will be endless happiness and hope as I need it so

Above me the promise of an eternal life for I lived my life pure

Around me will be the great beyond

  The ground calls

Thy name I shall call and you shall listen

To the words I say to you, I call you by your name

You are chosen to be next in line, to be a servant to me

You shall call me Death and you shall obey my orders

In the ground you will be placed, you will be sacrificed

To the Master they call me, I am your death.

To me you will bring your life and lay it down before me

You will bow your head and praise the life given to you

No one will be there to save you, you are now mine

Mine to do whatever I want with

I will let you see the light but I will keep you in the dark

For my pleasure I will keep you as I am your death.

You shall never escape my fangs or win over my heart

I am strong and I am eternal, you have nowhere to run

Make yourself ready for a new life with your master

Fall into the ground when you hear it call

I shall call you by your name and you shall obey

I am your death and I will prevail.

  The older, the wiser

With age comes wisdom, or so they say.

Never did they talk about the hardship in getting there

Always only said that life never wants to play fair

Imagine what it felt like when you get there, dismay.

Wisdom, or so they say, comes with the advancing of age

Years fly by with no eagerness to slow down a bit

Kicking me in the back when I try to throw a fit

Keeping my captured like a wild animal in a cage.

With age comes wisdom, or so they say

Glancing in the mirror I can see the years playing games on my face

While only wanting to get away from this place

Watching the dawn of day after day after day.

Wisdom, or so they say, comes with the advancing of age

I watch you make the mistakes I taught you not to make

My advice you mentioned, you will never take

Then why are we not here on the same page?

With age comes wisdom, or so they say

It does not matter now, the days are getting cold

Your mind is in the blanket just another fold

Sitting out in the sun with my hair so grey.

Wisdom, or so they say, comes with the advancing of age

All I have made for you over the years you throw at my feet

Life has shown me another side of its face, the cheat.

Is this the way I will be remembered or is this just another stage?

  Until my dying day

I will teach you the right from wrong and keep you safe from the bad outside

I will help you walk life’s path and tell you when to hide

When you fall I will be waiting to catch you

And make you as good as new

I will find ways to protect you and keep you from harm’s way

  I will give my ow
n soul to save your, that goes without a say

Never will you have to worry about fears

As I will be there to wipe away the tears

I will bring to the waters to clean your wounds and heal your broken spirit

I will cut out all the hate and lies, even if it is just a snippet

Never fret about the things you cannot change

Life will treat you well, I will arrange

I will stand in the way of love that is not pure

I will find your inner most pain and I will then cure

Until my dying day I will be there to hold your hand

Until my hourglass holds no more sand

We all go to the same grave

If you have a house that belongs on the cover of a magazine

Or a house that is made of cardboard boxes

If your house has eight bedrooms and a lawn with a pool

Or your house’s only decoration is a barcode on the side

It doesn’t matter, because we all go to the same grave

If you are the owner of a world class company

Or sweeping the streets when the winter winds blow

If you can afford two jets to transport you from place to place

Or if you rely on your feet to get where you need to be

It doesn’t matter because we all go to the same grave

If you give as much as you can to a crowd of people

Or help just one to make a better life

If your work is known to the entire world

Or if you keep your name out of the things you do

It doesn’t matter because we all go to the same grave

If you bring happiness to your family and you are what they want you to be

Or if you brought sorrow upon your people by doing what you want

If you are the speaker that talks to anyone who needs help

Or if you sit quietly and listen to what there is to be said

It doesn’t matter because we all go to the same grave

When life is finished with you

Life may keep you safe and hold you until you can no more

Bring you to the altar and make your blood pour

It may seem true and fair for you now

But one day, at your near end, you will ask how

Life may give you fortune and make you cheerful

But after a while all you will be is lonely and forgetful

What you wanted out of life will be thrown back into your face

And will never give you a second chance to plead your case

Life may seem full of love, life and hope

It may even seem that you could have anything you ever asked for to cope

Not long life is done with you, your memories will fade

It will not matter how hard you have tried, it will be made

Life may seek your every breath and your every move

It may give you something for the pain to soothe

But fear not, it will turn its back on you

When it has had enough of you and is through

Life may seem like the only way to make yourself known

After all, it gives you a family and a home of your own

But once life has come to an end

You will be meaningless and will be thrown around the bend

  Winter of Life

While the winter blows its cold air onto your face

Making the lines even more visible

The lines I have come to know over the years

Time does not stand still in the winter pace

Never would we feel sad or miserable

Tell me, Nana, of all your fears

While the winter blows its cold air into your heart

Your body becomes fragile and moves slower

Your mind as clear as the summer sun

Talking about all the memories in your cart

Walking with you to look at the last flower

Taught me that life is more than just fun

While the winter blows its cold air into your hair

With white and silver streaks your curls now shine

Framing your face, once a light to my dark

Has life been kind to you and treated you fair?

“Do not worry child, I will be fine

In this life I have left my mark.”

While the winter blows its cold air into your bones

I sit and wait for your clock to stop ticking

Only time will tell when it will be the end

Dreading that moment when the doctor phones

There will be no more pleading and fixing

Your clock stopping time is just around the bend.

  Wiser with death

With age comes wisdom, so they say

Never did they tell you that if they may

That death was the only wisest of them all

When you stand there and watch in the great hall

How the good and the bad fall from the world

When death is left to stand outside in the cold

And the wisest walk in the valley of calm

You will hold eternity right in your palm

The feeling of knowing no more sorrow or pain

That love and happiness is all there is to gain

The things you thought you knew does not seem

To shine as it once did with the brightest beam

Learn you did and tears you wept

But now all under the rug they are swept

To bring a new blank page for you to see

The life you will live now and who you will be

Will learn the world that all its lessons and dreams

Can be stolen in a blink with just a little scream

Wisdom comes with are, so they say

What you knew yesterday, you may not know today

As the world can be ripped from right under your feet

And bury you a whole six feet deep

To think forever on that what you thought you knew

After all you knew, it is now just a mere morning dew.

  With my last breath

With your last breath please tell me that you love me

Tell me that it will all be alright and that life is not so bad

Make me believe in the words you tell me with your last breath

With your last breath sing the song you used to sing

At my bedside at night when I got scared

Make me believe that there is some good left in the world with your last breath

With your last breath take my hand and lead me to you

Show me what it is to live and to love and to hope

Make me believe that you will be waiting for me on the other side with your last breath

With your last breath walk with me in the forest of time

Show me the birds that fly with our souls

Make me believe that without you I will still be alright with your last breath

With your last breath promise me that you will stand behind me always

That your spirit will guide me through the time I have left

Make me believe that I am not alone with your last breath

With your last breath help me to understand why it is that you are ripped from my heart

That I need to continue with life without you by my side

Make me believe that one day, I will see you again with your last breath
