watching birds and the few squirrels there. And wondering how much longer I had to complete my obsessional task, and also how long till I seen the inside of my coffin!

I was just standing on the pedestrian bridge overlooking the road and counting Porsche's, which really isn't such a hard task considering that they are manufactured about fifteen kilometers away from here, when a familiar voice said; “You are such an easy person to find.” Turning around, I greeted Gunéy's brother. “I'm sorry that I'm causing you all extra work.” I said. “But I had no other choice than to follow them on foot! That and the problem with the pain pills making me into a junkie.” “Come now,” he said. “We go to get Ishmael's beloved car, although I think it should be crushed and recycled into something useful like a stove or another car!” We walked to the train station and then towards the parking lot across from the restaurant. Ishmael's uncle walked straight towards a BMW X6 and I could see why Ishmael liked it. It bespoke of luxury and prestige. That and it probably would cost me more than a whole years pension! As he pulled his key ring out of his pocket and hit the electronic unlock button, I had expected the lights on the BMW to blink. Instead the lights on the car next to it flashed, and the new LED lights told me that it was the newest Porsche Cayenne on the market. “I was expecting the BMW to be your car.” I said. “It was till a few days ago,” he said. “Then I bought me this and now my old BMW belongs to my nephew.” “Old?” I asked in wonder. “Well it has almost fifty-thousand on it, so for me it is old. And my new one is courtesy of the government of Turkey, although they don't know they paid for it! But I figure that with what little time I have left and the fact that I wasn't allowed to have any family during my working years, they owe me this at the very least!” Opening the car door, I smiled over the roof at him and commented; “I noticed how, suddenly your English is almost perfect.” He smiled and answered; “in my past profession you have to learn to stultify yourself to blend in with the crowd, if not, you have no chance to finish the job!” “Stultify?” I asked bewildered. “If you don't know a word, don't ignore the chance to look it up.” He said, and with that we got in and raced out of the parking lot, heading out to recover Moby.

As we drove, he was very talkative, and in the privacy of his auto he wasn't so discreet anymore. “My friend, your quest needs to come to an end. There are people in the government who know about what is happening and they are not pleased about it. These are the people who are trying to radicalize our faith into something horrific and with their attacks on the general population they seek to promote an upraising against all from the Muslim faith. As you would say, `put us all in the same boat'. I'm afraid that my so-called friend had already sent enough information on you to maybe scare them into something more drastic. He was the only man I ever killed in my entire career with the secret police and I regret it deeply. If it had been better planned I would rather have had him incarcerated to still his voice. I fear no one, but I fear for the retribution which would befall upon my brother and family should your true identity become known and about the assistance we provided. So I tell you that your quest is now finished. You removed two of their five most important men in this country, and many in my field of work are impressed with your diligence, but they also think the same thing as I do. Quit now before the opposing forces take action against you.” I was somewhat perplexed at what he was telling me, but it also seriously made me outrageously mad as I stared at him from the passenger seat. “No, I'm not done yet. And like you, I have nothing to fear for, except Sabertooths well being when I'm gone.” Now he took his eyes from the road and staring at me, said; “yes you are! And when you are no longer capable, Ishmael will give Sabertooth a new home, for he has taken a liking to him. I am warning you that if they call in this certain specialist to take care of you, you will not die from cancer. He may make it quick, but he is also renown for sometimes having a taste for the sadistic style of eliminations. If so, you will pray for the cancer, for I have seen photos of his victims which suffered his prolonged introduction into death.” I stared out at the passing landscape for a minute, and then agreed to quit. If he would tell me more about this contract killer and how they operate.

We finally got to where I had left Moby, and before I could get in he took my hand. “I am going away, for my personal comfort in the little time I have left. And also to keep my brother and family safe. They won't know where I am, so they can't be forced to tell, and that is for all parties the best solution. “Why do you say you have so little time left?” I asked. “It's not like your ancient and dying!” He gave me that dry smile and answered; “do you think you have a copyright on cancer, my friend?” And with that, he walked to the Porsche and drove off. I never seen him again, but will always be grateful for his helping me. For without his help I would have been a dying man without a purpose. And as to holding to my promise of quitting, well, it turned out just a little premature.

  Present

Walter Lentz was simply fascinated, and when Marcus said they could continue tomorrow, Walter passed on the offer. “Now I’m curious as hell about the contract killer, as well as what made you decide to continue and murder the other two!” Walter said. “I know it’s late, but we have special privileges and I can sleep another time.” “Okay, if you want to make this an all-nighter I’ve got no qualms about it.” Marcus said and smirked. “Soon I will sleep the eternal sleep anyways, although my soul will take the elevator going downwards.”

  Breaking the promise

Settling into Moby’s driver seat, I grabbed for the Cell phone. As I was hitting the button with the little house on it to lead me out of here and back home, that was when I realized the smell coming from the back seat of the car. Turning around, I immediately knew that I would steer in the direction of the very first trash can I seen. My scrumptious sandwiches were already between the phases of mold and compost. I drove out of the garden driveway and hardheartedly said good riddance to the little Mosque. My luck was going good for just around the next corner there was a public trash can. So I was able to rid Moby of the stinking bags, before something gory started to crawl out of the bags and wander around the car. The GPS was leading me on my return journey and when it wanted me to get onto the highway, I decided that I wanted to drive through the somewhat quieter country roads, so I passed the highway and let the Phone start to recalculate a new route. I drove on and going uphill, I passed vineyards on both sides of the road as far as one could see. When I came to the traffic circle and followed my faithful electronic leader of the roads, I seen the sign that said I was heading in the direction of Besigheim. And that was when I started to think about it again. I served over half my life in service to the people, and was now condemned to die. They on the other hand did absolutely nothing and were still planning to kill innocent people, who actually do something for the communal good of mankind. It’s perverse, not good, not right, and forgive me for breaking my promise. For I still had time, not much, but maybe enough to rid Germany of maybe one or two more of those scumbags.

As my faithful assistant lead me down in the little town of Besigheim, I was thinking of just driving around to find the apartment blocks where they lived. But, as I came to a red light, I realized that to the right was the tunnel I had driven through before on my way home and looking left, I then seen the soccer field. Bingo! I thought and proceeded to receive a bout of honking and abusive words as I attempted to wrangle my way into the left turn lane. Naturally I could have gone through the tunnel and after turning around come back through again, but I really didn’t care about anybody anymore. Reaching my arm high up out of the window, I showed them all `The Bird´ till my green light came and unfortunately my arm was needed for steering Moby. From there on it was easy to find the housing complex and I parked the car on the side of the road after turning around. Now I had a perfect spot for they had to walk down the driveway to the road, and I was slightly elevated on a small hill. I was going to wait till they came out, regardless how long I must wait, or even if I die s
itting here in Moby. This had to be done.

Oh yeah. The theory of time relativity, and believe me, as it started to get dark and was almost Ten at night, I had my doubts. I stayed steadfast where I was though and the worst part was the phone went dead about an hour ago. I couldn’t complain though because it had been on and running for the better part of two days and still lead me here before dying out. So as the night dragged on and I watched, I had drifted off to sleep.

I was walking towards the factory where they make all of those really cool cuckoo clocks and I was absolutely dying of thirst. But the more I walked, it seemed the farther away the factory got. And then I had the sudden urge to use the bathroom so I started to run, for surely they had a bathroom in the front room where they sell the tickets for the tour. But damned if I could get to it, even if I ran as fast as I could possibly go, it seemed that all that happened was the sound of the clocks got louder but I wasn’t any closer to it than before! So I stopped and in a fit of rage turned around….
