Neen dodged another heavy human foot as it came down on the greasy pavement of the sidewalk. She had to push hard up against a lamp post this time to avoid being crushed.

“Hey try looking down!” she yelled at the middle aged man, who was clearly intoxicated.

“Meh, fly off and tell someone who cares, you stupid fairy!”

Neen almost lost her cool and the temptation of shooting a few humans was almost irresistible. Fortunately they had finally reached their destination because Sliver, who was a few metres ahead of her with Agnor, signalled to her to hurry up then slipped into a narrow side alley.

With glee Neen leapt into the air and flew the rest of the way. The three of them then continued down the side alley until they reached an intersecting back alley. They turned into it and continued until they reached the rear of a large and prestigious looking high rise apartment block.

“This is it,” said Sliver quietly, ensuring they kept within the shadows of the dark alley and out of sight of the security camera that sat above the rear service entry. After a few moments ensuring nobody was around Sliver produced a small holo-cube and tossed it into the air. It hovered there in between them and started projecting a detailed three dimensional schematic of the building. “I need you to get us inside and to this point here.”

“You’re kidding right? That’s an upmarket human domicile. Look at the security systems!”

“Why do you think I wanted you along?”

“I need a month’s preparation to get us in an out of there undetected.”

“I never said we needed to get in and out undetected we just need to get in and out alive. The key is moved to a different location each night so we need to steal it before it moves again.”

“What the hell is this key for anyway?”

“I don’t know and I don’t care, but I am not keen on letting down our employer,” replied Sliver an unusually nervous edge creeping into his voice.

“What is it that you have gotten me into Sliver?” asked Neen a feeling of dread suddenly engulfing her. It took something seriously scary or deadly to phase Sliver.

“Nothing a few dark elixir rounds can’t solve,” he re-assured her. “Just the same let’s not muck this up.”
