Page 4 of Adam's Love

  Chapter 4

  It was late that evening.

Adam lay on his bed, his skin stretched and spread taut wings from his neck to his top chest, sometimes twisting and turning, unable to sleep, listening through the night to its noises longing anxiously for day to arrive so that he would see Zhara again.

At home Zhara was also lying on her bed listening to a song called Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal atha hai from the film titled Kabhi Kabhi.

Zhara couldn’t sleep and could tell by the feel of the darkness that she was still awake late at night.

“Adam,” Zhara breathed inwards deeply as she began to say, “I too also think you have been made for me. I love you, Adam.”

Just then Zhara’s mobile phone rang and Zhara quickly rose from her position and saw who was calling. Zhara was hoping that it might be Adam and it was.

“Hi, Adam,” said Zhara, a smile spreading across her face.

  “Hi,” said Adam.

“I was hoping you would ring me,” said Zhara, shyly.

“I was missing you,” said Adam, “and couldn’t get to sleep. What about you?”

“I can’t sleep either,” said Zhara.

  “You too, heh,” said Adam.

“No, sleep is easy,” began Zhara. “It’s the lonely nights without you that haunt me now,” she explained.

  “Ah, right.”

“Anyway, how can I sleep when my eyes are filled with your memories?” stated Zhara, “and when you’re going out with the hottest boyfriend,” added Zhara, tucking her hair behind her ear.

  There was a brief pause.

“I know the feeling,” began Adam. “Today, I looked deep in to your eyes, and you looked back. Now, I can’t stop thinking about you!” explained Adam. There was a brief pause before Adam spoke. “So, what were you doing then?” asked Adam.

“Thinking of you,” answered Zhara as she slowly breathed inwards.

“It hurts like hell being without you,” said Adam.

“Comes with being in love with someone,” stated Zhara.

“But it’s worth it don’t you think?” asked Adam. “All this pain for someone else.”

“Definitely!” answered Zhara. “Every bit of it,” Zhara added excitedly.

“For me, you’ve breathed back the fragrance of life back in to my life,” declared Adam as he stared at the ceiling as he spoke, inhaling inwards slowly.
