Chapter one
MY TRAVAIL, MY RESPONSIBILITY
The idea of sorrow has always appealed me, but now I am ashamed of myself, I’ve brought boredom, regrets, shame and pain into my life. Today sorrow enveloped me like an evil web, caught in the gain I am afraid of, Tari… what have you done, why did I listen to my ego, oh God Help me, I am so sorry!!!
The front door open, it is Adams, looking guilt but without remorse, he gave a laugh of mingled shock and dismay knowing that something terrible has been exposed; his phone has been off all through the night, because he was with Preye…
Adams!! What did I do to deserve this; Tari shouted at him…where are you coming from, so this is the life you have for me… you’ve finally broken the trust…
What trust? Adams asked, still without remorse, trying to find his way to the studies,
Our marriage... you bastard… having an affair behind my back, what do you take me for, thinking I will never find out or what…it is enough, I am tired of all this, you are a wicked person.
Adam looking straight into Tari’s eyes fully aware of what she meant, but refuses to let his spirit take a better part of him, his ego still in charge…
Me, trust you…I never trusted you, I know the reason why you agreed to marry me…or Is it not because of my money…
You are a bastard…I will never forgive you, you used me, you’ve been lying to me, telling me how much you love me. Adams what did I do wrong tell me, what do you want…what will now happen to our baby.
Look Tari go and search for the real father of that baby, I don’t think she is mine…
Looking so furious Tari throws her hand towards his face, but he knows what was coming immediately he held her by the hand and pushed her to the floor.
Oh Adam…today your true self has been exposed, I regret the day I met you,
Regret indeed…what did you see the day we met, was it not my money, was it not your lust that attracted me to you or what happen to the gifts and pleasurable outings…Is that not all you ever wanted…
Tari still on the floor, with shock hearing what Adams was saying, her heart couldn’t handle it any more and her eye lid couldn’t hold back the bag of tears in them any longer, she boast into tears crying like an hungry child in the middle of the night.
Oh Adams, you are insane, God will never forgive you…you will never see happiness in your life…
Please stop that rubbish…Adams yelp, you’ve to ask for your forgiveness first, or you’ve forgotten I am not the only sinner here…
Still on the floor crying Tari dragged her floppy body toward the phone…
On the other end
Chapter two
MY BEST FRIEND
Hello! Tari, hello... Why are you crying, what is the problem, talk to me, what is wrong…?
It is Adams.
What happen to him…is he okay?
Yes…
Please, stop crying I am not hearing you clearly, what did he do again?
He beats me...
He ley his hands on you! When did this start...?
I am tired of this marriage, for the past days now, he comes so late from work, and sometimes the next day… whenever I confront him, he always beat me, asking me when I became the head of the family. Udutimi I am tired, Adams have turn me into his punching bag, because of his infidelity. I am tired of everything… I’m tired of my life; I don’t think I can take this anymore…
It is ok, Tari, please don’t do anything stupid, give me some minute I am coming over.
Udutimi is Tari’s childhood friend, but she never knew the whole story about Tari’s relationship, they got back in contact after Tari’s wedding and since then, they been best of friends. I have to tell her the whole story.
Listen to me, Udutimi; I know Tarilayeta is your friend but let me tell you how it all started.
Tari is a lovely and beautiful lady, for her to be going through all this. Six years ago, when she was in her second year in college, she met Kelvin, on the first meeting at Next-Home social club, they became friends, and decided to build a relationship, it was a lovely relationship, because Kelvin has the fear of God in him, and he understands more about life and relationships, to him life is all about relationship and relationship is all about love.
That is the starting point of life, it was for relationship that God made you, when He says let us make man in our image after our likeness and ever since, He loves you so much, that He neither sleep, nor slumber because of you, His mind is so full of you. You must understand relationship from this point of view, if not; it will be very easy for you to mess it up.
The reason God created you was to have a relationship with you, He loves you so much, that He gave is very best as a sacrifice to reconnect you back to Him, He knows without a relationship with Him you can never have an absolute peace, love, and joy in your life on earth.
God is the foundation of a successful relationship.
The relationship between Tari and Kelvin was built on such foundation, but unknowingly to Kelvin, Tari grow up in the lower class community, she still has that poverty mentality consciousness and that was her fear.
Tari graduated from college, with good grades, and got a job, in a reputable telecommunication firm, with a good salary package. She was transformed within three month of working with this firm, this was her dream, she wallow in money and she can buy anything she wants for herself. As at then Kelvin was yet to secure a job, but he was very happy for Tari, you could see it all over him, he was so proud of her, and always thanking God for everything. Barely, five months of Tari’s work with the firm, their relationship starts fading out, when Tari stop receiving Kelvin’s calls, and start giving excuses for not hanging out with him on weekends.
I told Tari, don’t lose your focus, what do you want now in life, I have given you what you always dream of, at the age of 21, you have your dream job, you can take care of yourself, what then do you want with Adams.
