Page 16 of All I Need

There’s no doubt in my mind that what I’m about to do next is the right thing.

“I want to give you something else,” I say. My heart is pounding. I wasn’t expecting to be this nervous. “Everything changed the second I first saw you. You were coming off the boardwalk to the beach . . . and you were the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. You came out of nowhere and changed my life forever. And the crazy thing is? I didn’t even know I was waiting for you.”

I reach into my pocket and take out the other box. This one is a lot smaller.

“You’re everything to me,” I tell her. “You showed me that true love is real. You make me a better person. You make me feel alive. When I’m with you, I feel like anything is possible. Like I can turn my life into whatever I want it to be.”

When I open the ring box, Skye’s mouth drops open.

“It’s a promise ring,” I say. “You’re the love of my life. You always will be.”

Skye puts her hands over her mouth. She’s smiling and crying and staring at the ring.

I reach for her left hand. The ring fits perfectly.

“This is really happening,” she says.

This love will last. I’ve never been more certain of anything in my entire life.

Whatever happens next, whatever happens in our future, Skye will always be the one I want to share my life with. She completes all I need to be happy. Our fate is to be together.

I can’t wait to see what happens next.
