WORK WIFE BALANCE
Kate King is flailing to keep afloat. As her team bicker, finger-point and cheat their way through rumours of sackings and site closures, her ill-tempered husband is becoming increasingly embittered and secretive.
If things aren’t bad enough, Kate also has to contend with a career-climbing, attractive younger colleague and the sudden appearance of back fat.
Something has to give, but will it be her marriage or her job? And which does she care about more?
“Kate is a wonderful character, believable, likeable and with a nice line in funny put-downs. This is well-written, very funny and I raced through it, occasionally squealing in horror at the antics of Kate’s colleagues. It’s also a joy to read about a strong woman with a big job and fiery opinions, a nice antidote to the sugary sweet sort of chick lit.” Daily Mail
“Best book in a long time! I have never read a book where I have laughed out loud before. Not the sort of book you can read quietly in bed next to a snoring husband! I felt that by the end of the book Kate was a friend not a character from a book. Funny funny book, can't wait to start on Pot Bound.” Amazon Reviewer
POT-BOUND
“The roots of a pot-bound plant wind themselves round and round the inside of the pot making an impenetrable wall.”
Skiving colleagues, hideous bosses, outrageous friends - will Kate be capable of laying new roots amidst the harshness and turbulence of her life, or will she forever be twisted around into knots?
“A fantastic follow up to Work Wife Balance. Didn’t think Kate’s life could get much funnier and complicated but this was a real gem!”
“It’s good to find a book with a strong female lead that has a real job and a real life. Got strange looks on the plane from laughing out loud so much.”
FOGGY’S BLOG
I am Morten Astley Fogarty, call centre worker and all-round entertainer. Although I have an extremely rewarding career answering the phones at Perypils Insurance (customers are always telling me what a total brick I am), my ambition is to perform on the stage. I am, after all, named after two of the greatest singers of the 1980’s.
My girlfriend has a fantastic voice too and we often duet together. She has asked me to consider a three-way, so if I can find the right person to perform with us, we might even become the next Earth, Wind and Fire!
YOURS, EUNICE
Help is at hand! Agony Aunt extraordinaire, Eunice Peaks, answers your letters and offers sound, practical advice on family, relationships, work and container gardening – a problem shared is a problem halved!
“Dear Brenda
How awful for you! Both parents terminally ill – what a dreadful bind. I do so understand the crippling guilt that you describe in your letter; you feel you should be doing so much more to help them. What a shame your husband’s left you, and obviously you no longer have the support of your best friend now; I hope she makes a full recovery from that mysterious hit and run incident.
Well, do try and keep your spirits up. I think a break would do you the world of good. Maybe you could take a nice long holiday – Australia, perhaps? They have a wonderful Girl Guides following out there and I’ve taken the liberty of enclosing some contact details for Joyce who runs the Darwin chapter. There won’t be any accommodation fees as long as you help her herd the cattle, and there might be a little light kangaroo culling to undertake but just think - by the time you get back to your parents, the worst should all be over! Won’t that be a relief? Have a wonderful time.
Yours, Eunice.”
