am

Better than this, they tell me that I am

I deserve more, and have earned more, and have worked harder

I told them that I am more than human and they have come to believe

I no longer believe those old words, that I am unstoppable

Making claims of bringing the light

As if I could carry it in the palms of my hands to lay it at her feet

Presenting the very sun as a gift to that which makes me shine

I am dimming, withering, dimming away, paling, dimming away

I am not what I am supposed to be

How do you tell some one that they should love that?

That it’s a broken thing that pretends to be whole that is vying for a heart

Who am I to ask? Who do I think I am? Who am I?

I am going to try to keep you together because I am shaking apart

I have to be someone’s hero or else what good have I been?

The fight is supposed to be good. Differences made, lives changed

Show me the proof if I am so good, that I am what humanity should be
