Great great great-grandma would be proud if she knew the progress we've made in the last 270 years. Our stealth technology is greatly improved, the weapons systems are all target and forget, our defensive capabilities are many times more efficient than those they had in the old days. The only major task we've not solved is a faster than light propulsion system.
Day 480774. Wanderer reports that another group of alien spacecraft entered the Sol system an hour ago. They appear to be gathering data from their spy satellites again. They are also dropping new satellites. Wanderer request permission to disable a few of them later and recover them for analysis.
Day 480793. Wanderer reports that the new spy satellites are all linked by radio and also transmit to a relay outside the solar system in the Oort cloud. Initial attempts to disable this master satellite with high velocity ice and rocky asteroids showed that it is very maneuverable. However they did disable, capture, and isolate one of the minor spy satellites. Several improvements were detected and analysis started.
Day 480806. The final report on analysis of alien spy satellites was forwarded to the observer council this morning. The report states that passive optical receivers are improved. There are passive radio receivers that scan all frequencies normally used for radar, radio, and television. Optical analysis of the positions and attitudes of all the new satellites indicates that Earth is not the only planet in the solar system under observation. They placed spy satellites in every Lagrange point in the solar system. We can only assume that the aliens are aware that they are under observation by someone, but not by the natives on the 3rd planet. All signals from the spy satellites are being recorded for analysis. Plans are being developed to capture or destroy the master satellite if we are detected.

Day 603546. Public announcement over all communications systems. This afternoon an understandable radio transmission from Earth was recorded. Within the broadcast was the date and time. Our calculations have been double verified. The Earth date is August 20, 1920. We only have a hundred and two years before we can make contact!
