ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Charles Palliser, a graduate of Oxford, is now lecturing in nineteenth- and twentieth-century fiction at Strathclyde University, Glasgow. His radio play The Journal of Simon Owen was broadcast on BBC Radio 4. He spent twelve years scrupulously researching period detail and writing The Quincunx, his first novel. His second novel, The Sensationist has been published recently in London.
