But what neither of them had planned for when they looked down at where her car had been before it was removed was to see a trail of rose petals.

“Are you sure you didn’t do this beforehand?” she asked, eager to begin hauling stuff down.

“Yeah, I’m sure. When could I have done it?”

  “True.”

“I’m going to take a look down there, make sure there are no surprises.”

She began stripping off her clothes. He arched a brow.

“Me too, only I’m going to take the easy way down.” She was too eager to wait and shifted, then leapt from one narrow ledge to another to make her way down to the bottom.

He quickly joined her as a cougar. And then shifted as the base. A tent had been erected and from the smells of all the people who had been there—Hal, Chase, Stryker, and Dan—they had left not long before Kate and Leyton arrived.

“That’s why everyone kept asking when we were getting on the road,” Leyton said, amazed. “They wanted to make sure they didn’t run into us along the road.”

Enough firewood had been stacked for them to use for the whole two weeks they were there so they could just cook, enjoy nature, and make love.

Leyton smiled. “I’m going to owe them big time when we return.”

“That’s what being part of a cougar family of Yuma Town is all about,” Kate said, wrapping her arms around Leyton, loving him. And she loved being here again to turn her last “visit” here into a real camping retreat with one hot cougar.

“I’m ready to make love to you, Kate Ellen Parker Hill.”

“But we’ll need our sleeping bag.”

They peered into the tent, just in case the guys thought of dressing up the tent a bit. Candles, a table, a duplicate cougar print double sleeping bag, a handmade quilt with cougar prints of all sizes, and lots more rose petals. A note on the quilt said, “With love from all of us in Cougar Town.” Initialed on each square she saw the ladies’ names and Betty Kretchen’s, and she knew she had to be the one who supervised the making of the quilt since she was the only one of the ladies who was into quilting. Shannon, Tracey, and Dottie’s initials were on it too, and she loved them for doing something so special. She wondered when they’d taken the time to do it.

Leyton smiled and swept Kate up into his arms and carried her into the tent. “Looks like we don’t have to wait.”

“As if you can ever wait for anything.”

  “Not…for this.”

“Wait, what about bear noisemakers, just in case?”

“Right over there. Paintball gun without the paint, air gun, we’ve got it made. No more stalling, Mrs. Hill.”

  “Me stall? No way!”

And that was it as they zipped up the tent and settled down for a hot cougar lovemaking fest as the water rolled over the stones in the nearby creek and the breeze ruffled the branches of the nearby spruce trees.

Camping would never be the same. It just got a whole lot better.
