Page 3 of Poetry Volume One

A hurricane

  Clothes were everywhere

  Stuffed animals were buried

  The storm

  Must have taken the floor

I could not find it in my search

For a safe place to step

  I bruised my foot

  On an unknown object

  I could not find you

  Under all that stuff

  I have sent out

  A search party

  I hope they

  Can find their way back

  I will alert the news

  Of the hurricane that hit

  We must warn all parents

So that they can take cover

It is a hazard to our safety

We must arm ourselves with brooms and shovels.

One Day Things Will Be Different

  While you were

  At school today

  I thought about you

I had so many plans I wanted to do

  Money is tight

  To many bills to pay

I wanted to take you out

You needed to do something fun

  Your life has been hard

  Times have been tough

  I wish we could

  Go on a picnic

  Take a walk

  Along the beach

  Lay out

  And look at the stars

  There are so many things

  I wish we could do

One day things will be different

  Times won’t be so bad

Until then know that I love you

And one day things will be different

  Communication

  There are so many

  Forms of communication

  We can text

  Or call

  We can email

  Or use the Post Office

  We can use social media

We can talk face to face

  There are so many

  Ways to communicate

Seems the more ways we have

  The less we actually talk

  Close My Eyes

  As my tears fall

  They go unnoticed

  You do not see

  My broken heart

  The pain

  That the years have caused

I just want to close my eyes

  And never open them again.

  Heartaches of Yesterday

  From the first moment

  I saw you

  Your name was engraved

  On my heart

  The years can go by

  I still think of you

  I remember

  The sound of your voice

  The many heartaches

  Of yesterday

  Above all I remember

The smile you put on my face.

  I Close My Eyes

Each time I close my eyes

  I see you

  You are everything

  I have ever dreamed of

Your voice runs through my head

  Like a Ferris wheel

You are the beat of my heart

  The blood in my veins

  You are everything

  I could ever want.

  Just One Wish

  You are

  The wind

  That I feel.

  You are

  The sun

  On my face

  You are

  The stars

  I wish upon

If I had only one wish

It would be to see you

  Just one more day.

  If I could fly

I would fly above the clouds

To be held in your arms

  Just one more day.

  Not a day goes by

  That my heart doesn’t break

Because you were taken from me

  I love you with

  The love

  Of a little girl

  You will always be

  The first man

  In my life

  I let you go

  With the strength

  Of a woman

  I will always love you

  And remember

  Our time together.

  Memories of Today

  You stepped in

  When I need you most

  You listen to me

  You talk to me

  I miss not growing

  Up with you

  Time doesn’t stand still

  But our love doesn’t end

The first time I heard your voice

I knew that you were real

You were no longer a dream

  Instead you became a reality

  We missed those special moments

The ones that only happen once

  It’s okay because now

We have the moments that are special to us.

  Thank you for the memories

  Of today.
