Taylor James stared into the eyes of his only true love, her eyes of hazel a heaven to him.

“What, Taylor?” she said. “What is it?”

She had been concerned about him for some time, and it was obvious that he had something to tell her. But for some reason, he couldn’t.

  “I…I…”

“Whatever it is, Taylor…you can tell me.”

And he knew that he could. He could.

But looking into her eyes, again he couldn’t. Why should he? Truly, what was the point? It was too dangerous. What if they would come for her? He could never live with the thought.

“Do you love me?” he asked.

Rosemarie let out a relieving laugh.

“Why, Taylor, you know I do. Why do you ask me such a question?”

  He embraced her.

For a moment he took solace in the magic between them. Then he pulled back and looked at her, his hands on her arms.

“Then I must never let anything happen to either of us,” he said, “for your happiness is everything to me.”

“Oh, Taylor,” Rosemarie gasped, “it would destroy me if anything were ever to happen to you.”

“There is no me without you,” Taylor said. “And so you should know that, even if I am forced to go off again, I will never let anything keep us apart. I will always come for you.”

Her eyes sunk into his gaze as their lips met.
