Chapter V

  Dangerous Road

Quesha stood poised upon a precipice overlooking the mountain range. Her intense gaze studied the immense area, but it wasn’t the peaks she saw, but something else. Gingerly, she held her left hand up feeling the chill wind.

Satisfied, Quesha turned back using her staff to steady herself as she climbed down the hill back to the trail where the others awaited her. Her feet glided through the powder snow barely leaving a mark. She stepped lightly on the ground in front of King Shealayr.

  “Well?” he asked.

“There is change in the wind. I suspect we will meet Tesnayr sooner than expected,” replied Quesha. “We should go.”

Felznic moved closer to Quesha. “We need to rest. We’re tired.”

“You’ve had plenty of time to rest during the days we were forced to stop for the latest storm. We’re leaving.” She marched ahead of them not caring if they kept up or not. Readjusting his pack, King Shealayr motioned for the others to follow after her.
