  DEDICATION

I sincerely dedicate this work to the joys and profound success of online publishing and distribution.

  PREFACE

This work: Glass Apple—a Toast to the Reality of Life and Truth is about the lessons I have learnt in life: all the lessons of life with its Adventures and Conquests, Battles and Victories, De-motivations and Motivations, Pains and Joy, Moments of Sadness and Hope. All life valuable lessons can be read in every line of this work.

Wouldn’t you agree with me that we have gathered much inside us - be it be negative pains or positive joys- and need our incredible skills and talents in using these negative pains and positive joys in constructively shaping and imparting our generation? Well, we’ve been born and so it remains for us to use all we’ve learnt and gathered through life to better our own lives and help people around us who are struggling as we are or as we have to stand . . . Some of the piece here are adapted from my earlier work: “Poetic Memoirs of a Young Son”

To the giver of gifts, to all who have helped in the publication of this work, and to you who I desire to reach do my appreciations go to from my heart.

Thank you so much. . . EUGY ENOCH

  I HAVE TRIED

Life has not always been what it seems

Life has led me to turns I never had envisaged:

  Turns that had despair and misery, fortunes and smiles;

All coming out to greet me like a welcome stranger.

  Sometimes I laugh,

  Sometimes I cheer;

It never seems so all the time inside me.

During these times, as I laugh at and cheer at people,

I really wish they would see through to my heart-

So lonely and cold does it seem.

Sometimes I cry and when no one I see to comfort me, I break further.

Sometimes, my heart bleeds and when no one I see to care, bleeds more.

My joints are weakened under my burdens

I could feel my heart beat faster.

  Once have I gone down on my knees and prayed;

I have prayed saying “My Father, I am a very lonely man, please help me”

Oh these words I will not forget.

Anxiety took the part of me that pained me.

To make matters worse, friends came hard.

Even though people liked me, I was not sure why.

Oh! I wished I had friends to run to and talk with.

My only friends were my loneliness and misery-

  I would talk to myself;

I knew I was very lonely

  Poor miserable young lad

  Who will save one?

  I have tried…

My inner miseries caused me so much pain that my heart stirs up within me

With great troubles and anxiety does my heart stir up within me

  Who will deliver me?

  Come quickly, come

I have taken to drugs since teen

However, when I put pen to paper, I experience relief

IF THIS IS IT SO BE IT

Never have I felt such happiness in my life

I go to bed each night full of hopeful enthusiasm

Hopefully do I get up the next morning ready to set out to work.

My work fills me with so much happiness and pleasure

I see all students under my tutorship as friends and I address them so.

My work in the local school has made me taste the pie of happiness and touch the bubble of Joy.

If teaching is a gift, then I want to hold on to it.

If teaching is an endeavor, then I want to work in it with great zeal.

If teaching is a path, then I want to be further strengthened in it.

If teaching is an anointing, then I want to be doubly anointed.

If teaching is my portion in this life, then I want to receive it in a hundredfold.

If teaching is a Grace, then I want to receive it in double portion.

For in it I wear the robe of prosperity and the ring of authority, and I wield the staff of wisdom.

In it I find a halo of peace that I seek surround my soul.

  CHILDHOOD LONELINESS

Why does it have to be this way?

  Is loneliness a gift?

And like every other gift bestowed from childhood?

Why does it have to be this way?

  What innocence cannot comprehend

  What justice cannot judge

What the hammer cannot fall upon

  That same doth befall innocence.

But who will stand up for innocence!

  I wonder who will really-

  Maybe God

Do we leave it all on the throne steps of God?

  Who will take it there?

  You may have things your own way;

But things be that you should not have-

  The innocence of the innocent

We can sing and dance to songs of all

But songs be that we shouldn’t dance to - the cries of the lonely child.

The cross the lonely child will bear is heavier

His staff bears more flowers and figs

His reward is hence and thence

  Bless the lonely child always.

  A HOME AND A HOPE

A happy family who can find

A happy home who can build

  It is infectious

It infects with peace and gladness of spirit

A blessed home, who, is He that blesses.

When from our toil we return

  When the sun turns red

When the sky looses brightness as of daylight,

To happiness, do we desire, to retire

To joy we crave to return at sunset

In the arms of gladness, we crave to be embraced.

  When coolness is beginning to return;

We long to return to the nests of love filled to the brim with sweet things.

To make our match is difficult you say

But a home must be built and filled with sweet things.

‘We do not know exactly what to do;’ we say

But a home must be built and filled with sweet things.

We do not understand all things that we say.

But to be balanced, we need a home built and filled with sweet things.

By a man of love and a woman of respect, a home is built

By understanding their home is establis
hed long

By many blessings it is built.

The one that builds a home and fills it with sweet things, the same is blessed.

  BEWARE OF SONS OF PERDITION

Beware of the sons of perdition

  They live within our walls

  They walk among us

  They lurk around

They have clear visions and missions like all of us

Often they undertake journeys that lead them into troubles.

Flee from them for all you will get is a troubling of your peace.

They have a sinister mind and they would rather send everybody else that way.

The glove of selfishness is always seen on their hands beautifully adorning them

The wrist band of greed cannot go missing from their wrists.

You save them today from troubles; you will have to get ready again

You will yet save them tomorrow from troubles.

  When they are young,

They are a source of disturbance to their fathers,

They are made a source of complaint to their neighbors,

Alas they become a source of grief to their mothers.

  They claim to understand justice.

When you see them go through problems, allow them

Why try to lighten them up.

Allow them drink of the cup of their perdition.

If they ever get into positions of power; they become fools

When they grow old; they battle the hardest for relevance

When they die; they are soon forgotten

Their wealth soon go from the hands of their beneficiaries to their enemies

It even goes to the children to the children’s children.
