Martin Stephens’s survey of isolation experiments is called “Maternal Deprivation Experiments in Psychology.” It was published in 1986 for the American Anti-Vivisection Society and the New England Anti-Vivisection Society.
The descriptions of other animal research and the brief history of the animal rights movement, including comments from Christine Stevens, a discussion of the Silver Spring monkeys, and the letter to Gig Levine, come from Blum, The Monkey Wars. Gluck’s comment is from an interview for this book.
