Recording from the radio talk show Haunted Venue, with special guest Dr. Spriggan.

Host: Welcome back night owls and auditors! We are continuing our Q n’ A with our very special guest, one of my favorite authors, Dr. Roy Martin Spriggan.

  Spriggan: Hello.

Host: Now, doc, I gotta ask. Fame and success usually brings the crazies outta the woodwork. Any celeb or pop singer can vouch for that but you actually cater to a fan base that is…well, rather strange to begin with.

Spriggan: Ha ha, well I wouldn’t say I’d cater to anyone. I just offer my material to the public and whoever picks up my work does so of their own accord.

Host: Very true but let’s be honest. There are some real whackos out there and you are dealing with the crème of that crop.

Spriggan: Unfortunately there are several…determined individuals who do prove quite problematic on occasion. However you will find that in any range of people or as you put it, fan base. I don’t feel that those who enjoy my work are any different from those who would go to a rock concert or such event.

Host: True, I’ve met more kooks at burning man then I did at your last book signing. But unlike many celebrities you don’t have much of a security detail. Has that proven a problem?

Spriggan: Well I will say that a full time entourage would be greatly appreciated, but unfortunately, I just don’t see it as practical. So far those who attend my conferences have been very civil.

Host: Isn’t it true that some fans have caused you some, well, pains? According to your publisher, you and your family have moved and withdrawn all of your contact information from the public for safety concerns?

Spriggan: Ah yes. After the LA Incident my family and my associates felt that a change was needed.

Host: Now for those listening who haven’t heard about the LA Incident…

Spriggan: Of course. Several months ago, a source that will remain anonymous, claimed to have a DNA sample that has never before been documented. For whatever reasons, he concluded that this blood sample was from a genuine werewolf.

Host: You must get strange things like this all the time.

Spriggan: This was different. The source is a well respected colleague in many fields. We kept the sample at a hospital in Santa Monica but someone got word of this discovery and broke into the hospital, brutally assaulted a guard and snuck out with the blood sample before we had time to analyze it.

Host: And that was when you decided that safety was an issue?

Spriggan: Yes. Though my life’s work is the paranormal, it pales in comparison to the love I have for my family. I have withdrawn from the public eye, allowing my publishers and associates to handle all the details concerning security. That includes conventions as well as receiving any gifts or fan mail.

Host: Well let’s hope that no fan gets a hold of your info and forces you to move again.

Spriggan: Ha ha, it will take something of unprecedented magnitude to stop me from alerting the authorities that my identity was leaked. The horror of moving is just that daunting to me!
