My Name is Twinkle
Splishy Splashy Mermaid
Splishy splashy mermaid,
Swimming carefree in the sea,
Searching for some oysters,
To take back home for your tea.
But then a toothy shark came by,
And it started chasing you,
So into a cave you swam and hid,
For the shark was hungry, too!
A Circus Clown I’ll Be!
When I become a full-grown man,
A circus clown I’ll be,
With a big red nose and painted face,
Everyone will really giggle at me!
My funniest tricks I will perform,
Every afternoon and each night,
And as I stumble about the ring,
You’ll laugh with sheer delight!
I want to be the bestest clown,
A master of the silliest tricks,
But I will have to wait a long time,
For I am only six!
March Time Madness
Harry Hare was just so full of starch,
Because it was the first day of March,
A time when hares run wild and free,
As fast - as fast - as fast as can be!
Harry zigzagged swiftly to-and-fro,
Not really knowing which way to go,
Back and forth he frantically ran,
As fast - as fast - as fast as he can!
Harry Hare scampered far and wide,
In leaps and bounds over the countryside,
On and on through a fern filled wood,
As fast - as fast - as fast as he could!
Harry now really quickened his pace,
Briskly darting all over the place,
March-time madness was greater fun,
The faster - faster - he did run!
We Are The New Millennium Kids
The new millennium kids are here,
United across a green-blue sphere,
This jewel we call our Mother Earth,
A planet created for human birth.
The new millennium kids make this vow,
To make this world better somehow,
For with our sweat, toil and pain,
A brighter future we all will gain.
The new millennium kids can reassure,
For every illness we’ll find a cure,
And though it has been said before,
We will end the threat of global war.
The new millennium kids promise true,
To make tomorrow better for you,
Believe in us, and all that we say,
For we shall own the Earth one day.
Hey Missy Spider
Tiny Missy Spider,
Sat proud upon your tree,
If I ask you nice enough,
Will you spin a web for me?
I could use it as a swing,
If you spun it big and strong,
Then we could play together,
And be happy all day long!
Bees Are Flies In Pyjamas
Bees are flies with their pyjamas on,
Who search for flowers to land upon,
And when they find a suitable flower,
Its sweet nectar they will devour!
Bees work hard all summertime long,
Forever humming their busy-busy song,
They carry the pollen on their knees,
Except the bees that bump into trees!
Bees are not the friendliest of things,
For in their tails they carry sharp stings,
So when out playing on a summer’s day,
Don’t annoy them - keep well away!
Greedy Emily Jolly
Emily Jolly was a very greedy dolly
Who ate only the best chocolaty cake,
She’d sit at the kitchen table all day
And eat everything her mummy could bake!
Greedy Emily Jolly continued to feast
And constantly cried out for ‘more!’
But Emily was getting so big and so round,
She couldn’t fit through the kitchen door!
Sadly Emily became very, very ill,
But her greediness went on non-stop,
Until one day she ate far too much -
And exploded with a very loud - pop!
The Magic Of Pilf!
Pilf’s mother is a beautiful pixie,
Pilf’s father is a very handsome elf,
Pilf’s really ever so mischievous,
But Pilf’s quite proud of himself.
Pilf’s never sure where he’s going,
Pilf’s never sure where he’s been,
Pilf’s always going off somewhere,
Which is why Pilf’s so rarely seen.
Pilf’s ever so good to children,
His magic will always be theirs,
Pilf’s good to all the girls and boys,
Who recite their bedtime prayers.
Pilf’s probably going to visit you,
And Pilf’s going to make you giggle,
You’ll know Pilf when you see him,
For he walks with the funniest wiggle!
The Dreams of Thomas Tiddles
Thomas Tiddles was quite a happy cat,
Who spent all day curled up on the mat,
Cosily sleeping in front of a log fire,
Dreaming of his heart’s truest desire:
Of catching fish from a nearby stream,
Lapping at bowls of the freshest cream,
Frightening sparrows and noisy crows,
Chasing rabbits along the hedgerows.
Thomas Tiddles dreamt of more and more,
Like teasing crabs upon the seashore,
Scaring fierce dogs away from the house,
And catching the world’s biggest mouse!
Graceful Little Butterfly
Oh graceful little butterfly,
Upon mum’s washing-line,
I’m so happy you rested there,
Will you be a friend of mine?
Oh graceful little butterfly,
My name is Annabel Sue,
Do speak up and tell to me,
What name was given you?
Oh graceful little butterfly,
I wish to ask you many things,
Please speak up and tell to me,
Who painted your beautiful wings?
Oh graceful little butterfly,
You fill my heart with joy,
Do speak up and tell to me,
Are you a girl or boy?
br /> Oh graceful little butterfly,
So silent when in flight,
Will you kindly tell to me,
Where you go to every night?
Oh graceful little butterfly,
Please don’t now fly away,
For you did not promise to me,
To return here another day!
The Funnest Beach
The funnest place for a child like me,
Is playing on a beach beside the sea,
A beach on which to take donkey rides,
Or play on swings or the slippy slides,
A beach where the sea is pure and blue,
And perhaps nearby there is a big zoo,
A beach to play with a bucket and spade,
And a stall that sells ice-cold lemonade,
A beach where dogs aren’t roaming free,
A beach for a child - just like me!
Mystical Astro Wizard
I am the mystical Astro Wizard,
Who travels amongst the stars,
My home is where I wish it to be,
Upon Jupiter, Neptune, or Mars.
I have visited countless planets,
And spoken to many alien races,
But the species I like most of all,
Are the ones with human faces.
Yes, I am the mighty Astro Wizard,
Every Earth-child’s closest friend,
And should you ever need my help,
Straight to you, I will descend.
To all the girls and boys of Earth,
The message I bring direct to you,
Is respect your fellow Earthlings,
Be honest - faithful - and true!
Oh, What Shall I Be?
As mum sits on my bed at night,
And thoughtfully stares at me,
I guess what she is thinking, is,
What will I grow up to be?
Perhaps I’ll be a great doctor,
A carpenter, or an electrician,
Or something far more exciting,
Like a world-famous magician!
I might become a big movie star,
Someone who stands out in a crowd,
But I reckon I’ll be a professor -
And make my mum really proud!
Ooh - Creepy Crawlies!
Creepy-crawlies make me shiver,
They make my knees go all aquiver,
Small or large, bald or hairy,
Ooh! - creepy-crawlies are very scary!
Creepy-crawlies play outside all day,
And that is where I wish they’d stay,
But creepy-crawlies come inside at night,
Ooh! - just to give you a sudden fright!
Creepy-crawlies sure make me dread,
The time when I have to go up to bed,
And if there’s one on my bedroom wall,
Ooh! - it’s my mother that I’ll call!
Creepy-crawlies can be friendly too,
They really won’t bring harm to you,
Or that’s what daddy says, you see,
Ooh! - and he would never lie to me!
Shar The Unicorn
In a magical forest one early morn’,
A baby unicorn named Shar was born,
Shar’s colour was of purest white,
With angel wings, straight and bright.
As time passed by and Shar grew older,
Shar’s adventures became so much bolder,
Through the magical forest Shar did run,
Out-pacing the wind was such great fun.
Soon came the day when Shar could fly,
And up and away Shar soared to the sky,
Over hills and mountains Shar quickly flew,
Leaving behind the land that Shar knew.
Shar’s flight was long, and tiring too,
Crossing vast oceans of green and of blue,
Passing over new lands, so far and so wide,
A journey that filled Shar with great pride.
Then a landscape appeared to Shar’s eyes,
A familiar scene that Shar did recognise,
For it was the land where Shar was born,
In a magical forest one early morn’…
Sad Little Tree
Little tree, what bothers thee?
Is thy sadness, caused by me?
Do I not feed you, to please you?
Greet you, and prune you, too?
Does the wind, not sing a happy song?
Or the rain, wash your branches long?
Little tree, let nothing worry thee,
For tending you, is my speciality!
And do remember with each passing fall,
You will, one day, be sixty-feet tall!
Oh So Spooky ...
Ghosts and ghouls, witches and warlocks,
Wind-blown curtains swaying in the dark,
Banshees screaming across a graveyard,
Spooky things behind bushes in a park.
Phantoms loitering in pitch-black yards,
Demons screaming, bodies of living dead,
Lost are the souls of vampires’ life,
Spooky things make you live in dread.
Wandering the night they look for prey,
They want your heart and your head too,
They’ll steal your life and your dreams,
But that’s what all the spooky things do.
Yet there is some hope for girls and boys,
If, that is, you do your homework at night,
For learning at home will keep you safe -
From spooky things giving you a fright!
Doctor's Waiting Room
Waiting rooms are such boring places,
Filled with strangers’ ashen faces,
Coughing, panting, wheezing, sneezing,
Nothing for a kid to do, but quietly wait,
Really is unfair for a child aged eight!
No picture books or comics for us to read,
Just info-pamphlets for those in need,
Doctor’s waiting room sure isn’t any fun,
No games, cartoons on telly, no toys,
Nothing there for us girls and boys!
Mum brought me here for some medical care,
The big rash on my face gave her a scare,
It’s an itchy, patchy, red-coloured blotch,
But that’s what’s not really bothering me,
It’s that scary doctor I’ve got to see!
Half-an-hour I’ve sat here quiet, you know,
Watching sick people come in and then go,
I’m truly fed-up, and my bum’s gone to sleep,
Kids just can’t behave, like grown-ups do,
Remember - children are patients too!
Enchanted Tor
There's a secret place within in a dense wood,
a place where children would go if they could,
but it's in the centre of a very spooky moor,
and right at the top of a very magical tor.
It's a place with caves and nooks and crannies,
and there live the elfin granddads and grannies,
it's the place where pensioner elfins go to retire,
to knit woolly socks in front of a fire!
Dream On My Little One
Close your eyes and fall asleep my little one,
Go off in search of peaceful dreams,
Dreams where children can play carefree,
Dreams filled with laughter and simplicity.
Be not afraid of where you go my little one,
For I will always be here to keep you safe,
Dream on till the stars no longer shine,
Dream on dearest child forever mine.
Dream on and upwards toward the light,
Dream on till the Lord holds you tight,
Dream on my child throughout this night,
Dream on till you become a cherub bright.
My Name Is Twinkle
Ooh I woke up so grumpy today,
&nbs
p; I'd slept on my wand and it wasn't nice,
Felt like I'd been sleeping on a bag of mice!
Feeling quite moody while visiting a school,
I hid a teacher's glasses just to be cruel,
Then laughed as the teacher fell over a stool!
My name is Twinkle and I'm grumpy today,
Don't upset me as I'm in no mood to play!
Down by a stream there lives a very noisy frog,
So I waved my wand and sprinkled him with dust,
And turned him instantly into a bucket of rust!
Whilst roaming the forest for something to do,
I spotted a family of gnomes playing hide-and-seek,
I waved my wand and stuck them cheek-to-cheek!
My name is Twinkle and I'm grumpy today,
Don't upset me as I'm in no mood to play!
