Author’s Note

Before you read the actual story, I just want to say thanks for buying my book. I’ve been waiting for something like this to happen in a video game, movie, book, or whatever. I realized, I’ll just do it because I’ve always love creating my own story or universe if you would say. Let me give you some back stories about Sorrow.

In my high school years, I was starting to realize that school wasn’t really for me. I was not a fan of doing homework, studying for tests with the addition of failing them no matter how hard I tried, and I just hated everything about it except the social part.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to make video games. I was thinking about going back to that goal because the goals I had weren’t working out. I struggled of finding any band members with similar music taste or ideas to mine or even being a prostitute. Eventually, I’ll get STDs so that was a bad idea.

Sorrow was intended to be a first-person shooter (Doom and Halo for examples). I’m a huge FPS addict, so it was quite obvious that I wanted to make a game in this genre. I designed everything of how the game was supposed to be played and I just needed a team to help me while I can be the brain. One problem, the place where I live in had no indie game developing teams.

Luckily, the game was story driven at its core, and I realized that I was going to use my knowledge of poetry to make it more interesting than your usual book you read. Another thing I had in mind, was to attract gamers, who generally don’t like reading books, but also attract those who are dedicated into reading.

It was a challenge to balance between making this product from being a game into a book. I had to tone down the action because I realized it would just be crucially repetitive for the reader although it’s still action driven. However, some of the FPS implementations are still presented in the book. I consider Sorrow to be a “game in a book.”

Sorrow is heavily inspired by many games and movies, but the most important ones are Halo, Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner, and The Matrix. If you are familiar with these titles, then you might have a clue of what you’re going to expect.

I also want to point out that the map portion of this story, takes place right after the prologue section. Hopefully, you can understand the blue part of the map is the ocean. Other then that, I hope you enjoy the story.

  SORROW

  Earth No More

March 24th, 2021, the day where Earth reached its extinction

Natural disasters flooded the human's globe

Death of human population was growing

A lack of dependence of living, a lack of safety

Technology was the way toward survival, traveling at light speed

A new planet, reminiscent to the decayed one

They built, they grew, and they were home once again

Earth's brother, Zinzanzar was the name of our new planet

We were living in complacency; there was no agitation to be worried

  The Dystopian Future

  Year: 2054, our planet: Zinzanzar

  The society of advanced technology

  Cars had became into hovercars

  New architectures had been made

  Weapons featured such unprecedented power

The human race had reached to its new age

But the beauty of what we made

  Was only temporary

On the outside, it was beautiful

The vivid city lights, a fascination for any human eye

But within the world, agony is met with misery

  Richard Dawnson

Caucasian, black haired, five’ seven feet tall, and highly intelligent

He dreamed to be the system

Dystopia and dictatorship was all he thought about

He didn't want to be told, he wanted to order

A logical reason was nowhere to be found in the mist

  His mind was his privacy

Threatening decisions affected his parents-buried them under the ground

Innovation was the key, he said to himself

Crafted a drug that would be a step to towards his reality

Once injected in a person's neck, the person would fall asleep for thirty minutes

As soon the person woke up, the being clueless of what the world is

As seconds turns into minutes, minutes turn into hours and hours turn into days

Gained respect from a gang called "Bloodhounds"

The gang followed his orders and objectives

And step by step, he would be the most feared man alive

  So young, yet so cruel

  Bloodhounds

Low-lives criminals, looking to cause mayhem in a high tech society

Hacking ATMs, robbing banks, causing violence, and generally hating people

Originated by people who couldn't be accepted upon society's cruel regulations

Violence was the only answer to define their frustrations

They couldn't be happy, no one could

School shootings had been committed, drive-bys on local innocent civilians

Night clubs, libraries, restaurants, any highly populated locations

Were possibilities of a Bloodhound attack

Generally, about two or three members

Some fought and hid, some fought and died

Bloodhounds adored the attention, expressing the masses their frustration with life

Always wanted a change in their world, but it was never going to change

Black was an important color for them, always at least one clothing of black

Their symbol was a skull with blood raining down its eyes

The shedding blood paints their sorrow, and blood for their rage

Always looking for their preys, and taking the life out of them

Fashions they adored were Mohawks, leather jackets, colored hair, and studs and spikes

A mixed of every race in the gang, no color discrimination

  Only heterosexual males were allowed

Every member had to have a their symbol tattooed somewhere on their body

The only gang and the biggest gang out in Zinzanzar

All over the world and they were mad

  All wanted power and respect

All wanted a world where they can live in their emotions

  Inside the Misery

Night time, an attack had been made

Everywhere on Zinzanzar, they all listened to their dictator

And they all attacked on their homeland

There were some locations that didn't needed to be attacked

Instead, Richard wanted to have authority over them

Gun shops, hospitals, and any military controlled stations

All used for their advantages for future purposes

  Gunshots, screaming, crying, yelling

It was all you could hear

  People died, people drugged

The declination of social control to dystopia

Those that are drugged were sent to a special place

Where their teachers misinformed them, propagandizing violence

And used them as their puppets, and to grow their men

To be more stronger and more apprehensive

Cops, they tried to be heroes, but only just helping their enemies

Used the men for more infantry, and used the women for sexual desires

Those that weren't them were either tortured or pleasured to death

The kids showed their emotions through tears

But that didn't stop them from beating them or executing them

  Rebellion

Every city was attack, but not every under the Bloodhound's control

Group of trained military soldiers would fight back and win

Sooner, they united themselves an alliance calle
d The Confederacy

Rebellious to Richard's system, and promised to break the dystopian society

Formed by the President, Sarah Kiethwood

As day by day went on, battles had been fought

They fought for city control, to create outposts and increase the Confederacy's region

But the only drawback the Confederacy had, was the ability to convert more infantry

Bloodhounds didn't always kill any soldiers related to the Confederacy

Sometimes they wound them, to make them one of theirs

And that was the only thing the Confederacy couldn't counter back

Losing men was not an option for them

As times got desperate, propaganda was presented in some cities

They wanted to make some citizens into soldiers for war

Men and women willing to put their lives on the frontline

In protection for their loved ones and the people of Zinzanzar

The Bloodhounds fought hard in combat

Being able to take a flock of bullets with their upgraded gear

New recruits were frightened by these savages; killing was what they do best

But cooperating together, there was always a chance

Some of them lived on to see another day

Celebrating with beers, or going home and being with the family

And then there are those that tried, but only create scars

Resting their souls in peace, but their close ones, could only put them in their hearts

The President and everyone-all wrapped in anxiety

Fear was nothing they could take control of, until they found her

Her father and mother lacked the consistency

She watched her dad walked out the door, left her mother hopeless
