The crowd swayed as if hypnotized by the slower song. Despite Jason’s best efforts to play calmly, his guitar grew warmer and warmer in his hands. He concentrated, willing the guitar not to erupt and shoot fire everywhere, which would undoubtedly be a bad thing.
There was plenty to worry about—the fairies, the dullahan, the fact that they’d signed a contract with a tricky leprechaun. Jason tried to push it all away. There had to be good times ahead, too, he thought. Malarkay was going to push them all over the radio and TV, once the album and the video were ready. Jason couldn’t imagine what their lives would be like then.
Jason closed his eyes. He let the music do what it wanted, casting its spell over Jason as much as the rest of the crowd. The guitar took him up and away from his problems, into a world with no past and no future, a world of pure enchanted sound. It was the ultimate escape.
